How good is the Sinclair hex style bullet comparator? I read a report saying the one purchased was not accurate. Does anyone have experience with this style guage?

I had one but replaced it with the Hornady, Stoney Point. Balancing a case and nut on a set of calipers can make you think bad thoughts.Rick.

The Hornady (Stony Point) comparator works very well. I can't speak for the Sinclair gauge. I have some Sinclair equipment, and it is generally good. However, for the difference in price, the Hornady just seems a wiser choice.

Sinclair sell two models Hex Comparator @ 18.95 to handle 5 or 6 calibers each and they show it laying on a flat surface same as they do with their Insert style comparator.

Sinclair sell a Davidson base head piece machined into three step (.378",.473",.532") to fit on the calipers blade and 4 different ones to handle all the cases base up .610" so using the Hex isn't a problems. Hornady has come out with a "Optional Anvil Base Kit" that attachs to the caliper blade and just give a flat surface to set the case base on.

With the Davidson base or Hornady Anvil base kit using the Hex shouldn't be a problem. Also Sinclair handles the Davidson Comparator or seating checker and its a good one along with the base but the nose pieces are alittle high $14.97 each plus $14.95 for the base.

I have the Hex works for me.
