Went out shooting again today. Had a slight headwind but otherwise perfect conditions. Used the Shoot N C targets for the 1st time. I liked them. My shooting technique is getting better but I still need more practice.

Several of your rifles are ready to hunt. The 270 will put a hurting on about anything you'll hunt, as will your 7-08. The varmint stuff shows real promise.

Thank you both. Im excited to use the 270 on our antelope hunt in Wy and a cow elk here in Utah!

As for the twist im not 100% sure but its a factory rem 700 rifle. My Dad is having even better results with the 64 gr. BSB in his Ruger #1. He is using H4895 I think.

Also the 7mm-08 is a savage and the .270 is a Weatherby Vanguard series 2.

Very nice shooting. All under 1 MOA. I would maybe play with the 22-250 a little (because I like to tinker and shoot) but the 270 is good to go.

For sure going to keep after that 22-250.

Based on this chart can I estimate that my rifle is shooting approx. 2940 fps till I can use a chrono? Im running some preliminary drop charts.

That 150 at around 2900 in your 270 will be some serious medicine. I use alot of the 150 BT's for deer and targets and it is unreal in my WSM. Great shooting.

Thanks SJB. I am extremely excited to put that gun to work this year! I really like that BT. I also look forward to the 150 gr ABLR.

SS

Nice shooting. I use the same load with the 64 gr BSB in my 22-250 with similar accuracy from my 700 VLS.

That .270 is smoking on groups. The 150 BT's ought to kill deer at any range you can hit them at!

Im banking on deer, antelope and the occasional elk!

JD,

I used your bullet test and load as my example and worked up to it. Looks like a good solid combination!

Is there any preliminary load data out for the 150 gr. ABLR? Or, will it be listed under the 150 gr. "umbrella" on Noslers website load data? Any ideas?

I am with you  I can't wait until that 150 ABLR is in stock I believe they will really preform in the 277 cal. Sure hope they come out real soon 8)

Blessings,
Dan

I haven't seen any yet, but I imagine they are working it right now. I would bet the data will be close to a Berger/Sierra/Hornady or Nosler 150 grain bullet. Max, top end stuff will probably be different, but I would think if you have good data for the 150 right now, you'll be pretty close, pretty quick.

I am wondering how the new ABLR's are going to shoot, meaning, are they going to wanna be right up on the rifling, or prefer a little more jump like the older AB's?

My head is spinning cause I am looking forward to trying them out!

I'm prepped for their arrival. Got plenty of RL25 and some initial results for a powder charge, so I'm thinking if they shoot, it'll come together quickly.

I'm actually looking forward to all of you 270 Winchester shooters. I have a hunch if that bullet is as good as I'm hoping those old 270's will get pulled outta mothballs and put back on the firing lines. I'm thinking most could do 2900 pretty easily with them in any of their Sporters and those would carry the mail to the tune of 1500Ftlbs of energy out to 600 or so. That's about all my 338 does with its 210's started at 3075. That'll put the 270 back on top for alot of folks. Light recoil and alot of performance per grain of powder used.

I agree and hope for the same performance! The .270 Win. is a great cartridge! It will be fun to see everyone testing them as see what happens.

I am ready for the 150 gr .270 BT to be released. My 270 gets about 3060 fps with the 130 Partitions, it should get close to 3040 fps with that 150 BT bullet. The rifle also shoots Nosler BT's at 1/2 MOA to 300 yards. I have killed deer at 425 yards with the 130 Partition .270 bullet. I do not know what I can do with the 150 gr but 500 yards ought to be a go! It will be fun trying.
