This year we've got a new shotgun muzzleloader season From oct. 15-31 in Alberta. SO, I bought a Benelli SuperNova with a 18.5" smooth barrel and choose Winchester Super X 3" 1oz rifled slugs(velocity 1760FPS). They shoot dead on @ 100yds, 4" high @ 50yds.

I didn't get any time off until this last weekend, but did manage to miss a beautiful 180 or so Whitetail today. It is a little humbling to miss a 100 yd shot, but really adds a challenging element to the hunt. And of course, if I don't tag out with the Shotgun, Rifle season starts Nov. 1...

So, I'm going back to the field tomorrow before light with some doe in heat, a bleat call and I'm going to post up 75 yds from the scrape I've seen him at 3 times this week and where I missed him today, maybe I'll get him. If I miss again, I'll most likely wait until rifle anyway.

If Nosler made a 3" or 3 1/2" slug or a Saboted 50 cal Partition in the 300-500 grain range it would really cool. Hehehe, can you imagine, you could hunt dinosaurs with that medicine!!! 8) 8) 8)

I was only a little bit off with the ballistics, and shot clean over a nice WT buck. He was Huge. Serves my right for not taking the time to get used to the shotgun.
