Well got me the new version of the savage.

Main differences.

Low profile barrel nut (no flutes)
Bolt remove button by trigger guard (no more unsightly gas pdals by the right side of reciever)
Hinged magazine
Ebony tip
Nice oil finish
Nice Classic American stock.
Jeweled bolt...and some other changes I can not recall......
What a classy gun man!

This one is in 7mm rem mag and I love it. Please excuse the fingerprints and oily spots. She just came out of her box.

No more excuses for not owning the most accurate out of the box rifle.

What a disgusting looking pile of garbage! Look, rather than you putting up with that thing, just box it up and send it my way. I'll give the ugly duckling a home right here in my gunsafe where you don't have to look at it anymore! Really awful cartridge too... The 7mm mag is actually useless you know...

Yup. Savage has come a long way. That's a great looking classic American sporter! Nice!

Pop, I may have misunderstood your previous post. It just sounded bad to me at the time. Your Savage is very nice. I'll bet she is a shooter. The 7mm rem mag has always been really close to my heart because it was my first mag, and a real shooter I might add. Very nice.....Try 63 grns rl 22 with a 160 and I'll bet you like it.....

Now that is a very nice looking savage to say the least POP. What was the specific model of this rifle was it the Classic 114? Thanks

Yes, even though I liked the looks of my 116F 7mmSTW I think the one you have shown POP shows that Savage has stepped up and of course they do shoot. No rifle I have own in my life including my custom rifles have ever out shot my Savage 7mmSTW.

Nice bullet, those 7's really will shoot. One of the most accurate cartridges IMO....Really nice looking rifle also....

Better yet, I'll even pay for the shipping. I also agree their wood stocks look good. I had one of their plastic stocks, a 12FV in 204 Ruger, talk about junk and ugly, thank God the rifle performed 1000% better than the stock. Very nice gun POP.

No biggie buddy. We're all friends here.

RL 22 and 160 Accubonds will be the first to be tried out....

Yes it is! 8)

If you don't mind POP what did you pay for it if I can ask? I am interested in a good 270Win. Of course a 7mm08 in a Nosler Model 48 would surely be something also.

Another 14 with it's other barrels. It has the 260 on here, a 250 and the original 7-08 in the blue stuff.

I ordered that one and a 114 about two years ago through a small local dealer, $506.00. No idea what they sell for now.

Nothing like Savages barrel mounting and how easy it is to change a barrel. Thanks for the pictures and reminding us how versatile the Savage design is and along with the unique bolt spring and then the added new trigger you have one real accurate shooting rifle.

Bill

This is what I am talking about. Handsome rifle/ affordable accurate and versatile with the -barrel switch at home- option.

Now they sell for about 75 bucks more.

I wasn't trying to dump on Savage on that other post, POP. I was just saying that the options on the Savage are not what they are on some rifles, though over the past couple of years, Savage has come a long way. I am very likely going to buy my son one here shortly in left hand, in fact. But the long and the short of it is that for synthetic stocks, Savage doesn't do much in the way of extra high quality, and my original comparison was that to the stocks on the Vanguard. Sorry if I touched a nerve. Now, if I can just find some aftermarket left hand stocks so that I can cut one down to fit a 7yr old!

Not an issue, and I do agree. If they take care of the tupperware stock issue then they will have covered all the bases.

BTW I was at sportsman's warehouse the other day and I played with a couple of synthetic savages. The stocks seemed way more rigid thatn the old ones. Maybe they did swap them old ones out. Also my new 223 stock is rigid as hell! Mine is the new one because the bolt is on fact jeweled.

Pop,

Very nice indeed!
You are on it, RL 22 and the 160 gr AB, 3000 fps and a nice flat shooter with some punch.

They have improved the looks of those rifle a lot but I still can't get over the bolt handle, I know stupid and trivial but hay I grew up around Remington's, all being said that is a nice rifle.
