Got to the bench with the 338.
Shot 225 grain Accubonds first and then 200 grain Combined Technology.
Pretty much a book starting load for both of them with the exception of using Hornady brass.
It is what it is. Will try a little hotter load tomorrow.

That’s a darned good start in my book.

I used to use 76-77 grains of RL19 with 200 Accubonds and 210 Partitions. That was a go to load. Accurate, and very fast. Both of them clocked right around 3000-3050 FPS. I wanna say 73-74 grains of 19 with the 225’s was fantastic as well and usually around 2850-2900. 19 will change a bit from lot to lot but I’d bet you’ll find some magic as you start working up some.

19 used to be my go to powder for my 338 Win. It worked for 200-250’s really well. I tried 17 a few years back and it’s been great as well but I can’t say it’s been any better.

I think you’re well on your way to having an excellent load.

Ya, I always think it's promising when the rifle puts two of three nice and tight together like that.

I could be wrong, but that indicates potential to me - and encourages me to work towards tightening that goup up a bit. With the 338 you're dealing with quite a bit of power! Looks like you're well on the way to an excellent elk (or whatever else) load.
