The wife and I got out for a nice Sunday drive today, it was a 200mi loop, I wanted to check out the Madison Valley which is a big winter range around here and see how some the big game animals handled the winter. We were able to see some antelope was hoping to see a few more bucks, whitetail and mule deer, nearly 1000 elk(no joke) the spikes still had their antlers, close to 50 big horns, and a dozen buffalo. Did see some birds too, geese, ducks, sandhill cranes and a few eagles and hawks. No bears or other predators but if i would have stopped to looked i may have turned some up. Was a really nice drive, had a bit of everything sunshine, light rain, some heavy snow. Ahhh spring time in Montana.
Now typing this I realize how blessed we are here, today we saw every big game animal you can hunt in Montana except a moose, mountain goat, wolf, and black bear. Of those I've seen all but a wolf, at some point, on those same roads, but know they're there. I will add that they aren't nearly as easy to find during hunting season hahaha, and none of them were inside the park(Yellowstone). I'll stop for better pics next drive.

Patrick, that looks familiar. Is that the road you sent Caleb and I on?
Yes it is the same road, I ran the opposite direction, hit Ennis first continued south to West Yellowstone, then north past Big Sky and home, was probably a 6 hour trip with stops along the way

Oh man, that is a beautiful drive. We are very happy that you suggested we take that route.

Caleb and I mentioned a couple of times, that if 191 was not a "mountain road" then we were not sure that we would want to go on what you would call a "mountain road". LOL

Beautiful country. We were close by there last summer. Went through Sheridan into MT. Drove the Bear Tooth pass and into Gardiner. Left the park via the West Entrance and into ID and down to Jackson WY.
It's absolutely majestic country!
