Does anyone have a Tikka T3 Lite?
How do you like it? I've got a trade going for one in 270 WSM.
What kind of scope mounts does it take. I see they have a special mount system plus it's drilled and tapped for some kind of conventional mounts. What have you used and what would you reccomend?
Thanks
Greg

Greg,

I've shot several of the T3s chambered in 270 WSM. My impression was that it was a well-fitted rifle and it shot quite well indeed. I didn't really take time to examine the rifles in detail or to fit the scopes as they were handed to me with the request that they be broken in and/or have load development performed for them. I wouldn't hesitate to grab one if a calibre that I thought to be interesting were available.

Great rifles. Will shot 1" or better at 100yds. I have one in 6.5X55 that tries to put everything I feed it into one hole when I do my part. Have a 7mm-08 on order. They come with scope mounts(1" tube) much like a Ruger rifles do. You will really like the rifle. The spare mags are a bit pricey would be my only complaint. Everyone who shoots mine really has liked it.

My T3 Lite is in .22-250. It puts 55 gr. Hornady V Maxs almost through the same hole at 100 yds. Turns pidgeons into dust  I also discovered that it will put 60 gr. NP into 3/4" & dead centre when its sighted 1 1/2" high for the 55 V Max. This makes it very useful if I happen to run into one of those porkers running around out there

My only rifle is a T3 Lite 30-06 and it shoots very well, plus I love the weight of it. I did put a nice soft recoil pad on it because the stock one is too hard for me in that lite of a rifle. The only complaint I have as above is the cost of a spare magazine.

I started to buy a tikka T-3 lite for Tater just before I decided I needed a new #1. The ones we looked at were beautiful, lite and felt great. unfortunately we never had the opportunity to shoot one. I'll wait till you get one and ask!

My dad started shooting a T3 lite in 300WM two years ago, loves it and its a 1/2" shooter with factor ammo at 100 yards, pletty good for a field gun. He put a muzzle break on it and it makes for an easy packing elk rifle.

If the one your looking at is in the box new I think they come witht he ring system from Tikka but can't say 100% for sure. Extra mags are what seem to be a little pricy in my opinion.

My dad has one in a 7 mag and it shoots 1/2" w/150g nbt's and imr4350.

Factory mounts arent the best, but they work.

With a target knob scope though, when you extract a case, it always tends to hit the windage knob and that he dont care for. The ejection port is kinda small.

Other then that, there a good lightweight, but still accurate rifle for the money. Cant really beat them for the price.

Love my two Tikka T3 rifles - Laminate Stainless 270WSM's with 140gr Accubonds. Very impressed with this caliber and bullet combo on big game and at the range. Almost prefer hunting with it th last couple of seasons.

I personally do not like the Lite model...as why I went with the LS model...waited the extra year to get it.

Should be a great shooter thou. Silky smooth action.

I have a buddy who has one in .325 WSM and I've worked up loads for him in it. I'm very impressed with the rifle and think it's a great buy. The rifle shoots both Nosler Partitions and Accubonds about the same and almost to the same point of impact! If I remember correctly, the Accubonds hit about 1.5 inches higher at 100 yards than the Partitions. The Accubonds also group slightly better in his rilfe, but both loads are at about 3/4 to 1". Sako builds good stuff!!

I have a buddy I've been helping get his Laminate SS .300wsm shooting.
He's put a Nikon Monarch Scope on it with not great results. ( yes the Tikkas come with scope mounts out of the box ) The first outing the scope moved in the rings. He took it all back apart and lapped and cleaned it all really well and we went again. Still no luck, 3 shots and it's moving again.
After speaking with Baretta, they sent him another set of rings without much hesitation.
Upon mounting the scope last weekend, we used some friction tape this time, only to have the same disappointment

The factory rings have gone in the trash and a set of Opti-Locks are on their way for it.

I was at the range last week sighting in my son's buddy's 06 and the guy next to me had a T3 lite in a 7mm mag. & a bushmaster scope on top.
He shot five times with factory winchester ammo not sure of the grain but the last 2 were touching 1" & 1/4 high @ 100.
Turns out that he was a friend of my brothers as I was informed on Sunday when my family came over for thanks giving supper.

Blessings,
Dan
