So far, I have had good luck loading for the E. Brown 97D falling block rifle in 6mm Bench Rest Magnum. I have been able to work up accurate load for the Speer 70 gr. TNT varmint bullet, using IMR 3031 and IMR 4350.
I want to create a deer load using the Nosler 95gr. Ballistic tip hunting bullet, which has done good things in my 243Win rifle.
My problem is E. Brown only provides two loads and those are all that they want to address. Both use V160 propellant, pushing an 80gr. Speer bullet and a 90gr. Lapua.
I want to develope the highest MV without creating too high pressures. Should I try light loads of IMR7828? That powder is very slow and therefore should work well in the 6mm BRM, 24 inch barrel, to get good MV developed as it using the entire length of the barrel. No?
So far I have seen no signs of over pressure using :
33gr. IMR4350 and the 70gr. TNT bullet
32.4gr. IMR3031 and the 70gr. TNT bullet
30.3gr. IMR4350 and the 100gr. SP bullet
Note: The 6mm BRM case is a necked down, blown out 30-30 case.
Any suggestions for other starting loads to work up with the 95gr. Nosler Bal. Tip.?
