Well I finally received my dies and scope mounts and rings. This is what it looks like with the Redfield 3-10X50mm scope, Leupold mounts and x-high rings.
Kimber Longmaster Classic in 223 Remington - 24" flutted heavy barrel.
I bore sighted it and took it to the range with 20 handloads to sight it in. The brass was range pick-up L-C that I full length resized and processed. I put a 55 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip over a Lee 1.9cc Dipper Cup full (26 grains) of Varget powder and CCI 400 primers. The powder filled the case up to the base of the neck and the bullet was seated to the SAMMI OAL.
With the target set at about 40 yards the first three shots made one tight hole an inch to the left and about 2 inches high of center. I adjusted the windage on the scope mount and the next shot was exactly over center of the bull, same height. I moved the target back to 100 yards and the next shot was off the 6" target (high). I adjusted the horizontal crosshair and the next three shots made one ragged hole an inch high. I moved the target back to 200 yards and the next 5 shots could be covered with a quarter (that's as good as I can shoot).
Today I made up another 150 rounds of the exact same load and components. This was the smoothest sight in session I've ever had and the load is good enough to use until I feel like messing with seating depth.
