I bought my special tag applications today for:

Mountain Goat - (fat chance, once-in-a-lifetime tag)
Bighorn Sheep - (Ram & Ewe, ram is also a once-in-a-lifetime tag)
Moose - bull & cow - possible... my points are growing in number. Bull is an "OIL" tag too.

Elk - have the general season tag, I'm looking for two others "quality" bull (rut hunt?) or more to my liking a cow tag close to home here. No room for more elk antlers on the wall, but there's room in the freezer for elk steaks! I might just have enough points to pull the cow tag I want... They've gotten ridiculously hard to draw in recent years!

Deer - need to consider this one carefully. I'll put in for the rut hunt mule deer tag, and although I'm getting close in points, I don't think I'm really in the running yet... Could however draw a doe tag or a second deer tag (doe also). Need to study up a bit on what's avail before I make my choices. Have to work around a certain trip to Wyoming! Mighty tempted to do the late (November) whitetail hunt again though. That was a lot of fun last year with my son.

Bear and Cougar tags, as well as general elk & general deer are no extra fees, over and above the license I already bought.

Could be a fun fall with a little luck on the draw and some good hunting weather! I've got a few weeks to figure out my preferences and get them in.

Decisions....

Guy,

I'm pulling for you to draw one or more of those special tags. That would be a hoot.

Good luck Guy! I hope you draw. That would truly be a great hunt with the pictures you take..

Guy it would be nice to get a draw or two, hopefully you will beat the odds and get a goat tag finally. Good luck

Good luck Guy!!!!
I will be not be any competition this year as I will put in for Preference Points in all elk catagories. Will hunt early and late season general archery on the coast !! Good luck on the mountain hunts.

i am taking a loan out of my 401 k this year to afford all for familly of 4. christ sakes they went overboard in costs.

Cool, did not know the regs were out. Guess I better get on putting in for stuff. Thanks Guy. And I have to agree the costs have gotten bad.

Well thanks - but honestly the odds of drawing a bighorn ram, mountain goat, or moose tag are very poor. We have some excellent animals in all three species, and some great hunting available for them - but the odds are really poor for drawing any of those three. I'd highly recommend any Washington resident who really wants to hunt one of those three, to seriously consider an out-of-state hunt... Go where there are more animals and better draw odds.

Deer and elk? Yeah, we've got lots of those, as well as black bear by the bushel full!

I haven't finished filling out all the apps yet. Trying to make careful choices. I'd actually like to hunt some of these things before my legs & lungs hit 60 years...

Whatever I draw, hunting season is always wonderful. Even if I eat tag soup. It's not so bad with some good seasoning...

Need to see about getting my son on a bigger buck this season though - that's for sure!

Regards, Guy
