Neither me nor my son managed to draw anything! I was mildly surprised that I didn't draw the cow elk or doe tag. Not at all surprised about the other tags as they have nearly impossible odds. I'll keep putting myself and my son in for these tags - when drawn they offer an outstanding hunt opportunity!

Still, with our over-the-counter tags we will be hunting black bear in September, mule deer in October, and possibly white tail in November. I also have an over-the-counter elk tag - but truly despise the regular elk season here. Too many goofy hunters going after the same poor elk herd a few miles south of town. It's a circus out there!

However, I might just slide out to an area where I occasionally find a smaller elk herd on the periphery and give that a try.

Better luck next year I guess. Guy

Guy,

Sorry you didn't pull a tag, but at least you still have options.

End of June for bear results and mid July for elk here in MI.

Sorry about the draw. It sounds kind of like a California draw. It would be easier to hit the lottery and go to Africa than draw a bull elk tag here :x

Guy,

Bummer on the draw, but glad that you have options. Hope you and your son each connect on some good game.

Wow! Tell your wife Congratulations on the draw!

Hope she has a fine hunt, I hear there are some great bulls in there...

Yeah, at least here in Washington there are still some very good hunt opportunities even without drawing a special tag...

We're going for bear in September, mule deer in October, and the backup plan is whitetail in November... Might get out for elk if I can squeeze the time...

got a Muzzleloader cow tag only took three preference points. West of Mt Adams
