Can anyone tell me what the lastest news on the 300 Black out happens to be? Compatibility with the AR platform, dies, need upgrades / swaps etc.
Any info would be helpful.

Working out ok for me and my buddies. We ran the range of bullets from 220 grain all the way to 110 grain. We have settled on the 150 grain b-tips with 16.9 grains of AA-1680. The bolt action rifles like the 110 grain V-Max. We use them to hunt pigs here. In the AR platform we are shooting around 100 yards and we are getting around 1 inch. We like it so far and have been using them since June of last year..

Does anyone have a comparison to the 260 over the 300 whisper/blackout?

Sort of an odd comparison to ask for.

The .260 is a full power rifle cartridge that excels at longer ranges. It requires a .308 sized platform, so the semi-autos are in the AR10 sized frame.

The .300 whisper is a 0-200m .223 cartridge necked up to .30 caliber. It has roughly the ballistics of the 7.62x39 and can be loaded subsonic to shoot suppressed. It shoots out of a AR15 (new barrel) and can even use standard AR mags. It's designed to primarily be used out of SBR type guns at close ranges.

It's a boutique carbine round.

For hunting or long range shooting, the .260 all the way.

The Whisper is based on the Fireball case, which is a slightly shorter .223 case. The 300 BLK is on a shortened .223 case. The Whisper isn't SAAMI tested and chambers can vary, the BLK is standardized. The Hornady Whisper loads can be fired in BLK guns.

I've been playing with the Whisper since last year. I was starting to get frustrated with accuracy of both subsonic and supersonic. The best I had been able to achieve was around an 1 1/4" five shot groups. I had been using the primers(Rem 7 1/2) that were shown in the data that came with the upper reciever(AR). Just out of curiosity I tried some 20+ year old CCI 400's with one of the better loads and the groups improved remarkably. Now I need to go back and retest some of the other loads that showed promise. Best overall powder has been VihtaVuori N110. For subsonics Accurate 5744 showed low ES & SD but had incomplete burning. IMR 4227 was pretty good too.
I also found that keeping the ES and SD's as low as possible was VERY critical.
It is deffinately a short range caliber. 150 grain/1875fps fireforming load has 10" of drop from 100 to 200 yds. 220 grn/1025fps has 33" of drop same distance.
