Dr Mike, I haven't hunted Frankin since I was in Hawaii. Same game ? That was a different hunt style, just stand there until you heard one chirp, ease up, chirp, ease up, flush ! Beautiful birds.

Sept. Antelope in Utah

Waiting on deer & turkey results from AZ

WY Antelope
WI Archery is OTC
WI Rifle is OTC
I hope to draw a fisher tag for this winter and maybe (very slim chance) a bobcat tag. If I get a fisher tag, I have to trap it but if I get a bobcat tag, I will be contacting some buddies who own hounds.

Same style of hunt that you described. Ruffed grouse and spruce hens sit there waiting for you to shoot them with a .22 Long Rifle. If you miss, they turn and give you another chance. Blue are about like ruffies. Sharptails are more nervous. You generally have to shoot them from about forty to sixty yards. Again, I use a .22.

I have not heard on our draw yet likely the first week of July. I did put in for Moose,Mulie & Prairie Goats (y).
However regular Elk is Sept. 15th or there abouts until Sept. 30th.
Regular early Bull Moose is around Oct. 10th to the 20th, late Moose is mid November for about 10 days.
Whitetail will be Nov. 15th to Dec. 7th.
I am not sure about upland birds this year but I would sure like to get a mess of ruffies for the deep freeze, also getting out for pheasant a couple times is always fun.

Blessings,
Dan

Not a bad lineup.. I love to hunt up at home!

I drew Muzzleloader Bull elk for the Oct 10-14 hunt in Unit 45 here in New Mexico. Thats about it for me. With baby girl number 4 coming early August I am putting all my eggs in this basket.

It has been the wettest spring early summer here in ABQ and NM for that matter for a few decades. My contacts at the Game and Fish are predicting record antler growth throughout the whole state. Nothing like keeping a boy up at night dreaming about big bulls screaming during the rut and having a muzzleloader in your hands.

Still trying to get an oryx hunt in down on the NM/Texas border, but that one is special. I will only get a day notice as once they show up on the Texas border it is basically " get your butt down here and shoot it".

Cow elk in Wyoming, and Spike bull in Oregon, late season general archery in Washington. No time for deer!

Montana Mule Deer for Southeast part of state. Will most likly buy a Whitetail doe tag also for the meat. I'm in a bad situation, out of Deer sausage.
Then Iowa Pheasants & Ducks, and if work does not interfere Whitetail Deer.

I drew a regular season Aug 25-Sept 25 cow moose hunt near anchorage, and my wife drew a cow tag for Nov-Dec in matsu valley.

TB, if you & your wife connect that should fill the freezer for most of the winter. Wishing you the best of luck, I sure hope that there will be a story with some photos??

Blessings,
Dan
