At this point, I'm really enjoying using the Williams sight on my .30-30 Marlin. This is the fourth levergun I've set up with a Williams sight over the years, three Marlins and a Winchester 94. This time around I got the one with the target knobs for windage and elevation in anticipation of doing some silhouette match shooting with the 336.

Adjustments are positive, with very easy to feel clicks. I haven't taken it to any great distance yet, but a trip to harass the 300 yard gongs is coming. Am going to modify or replace the front sight. The bead has got to go, to be replaced with a simple blade.

As with the other Williams sights I've used, it's very simple to unscrew the rear aperture and just sight through the hole in the sight if a larger aperture is desired - this works very well in low light, and particularly at closer ranges.

Regards, Guy

That is a great looking sight Guy. I like apertures myself on rifles that will get used at close quarters. I have a peep on my muzzleloader and it shoots very well. Can't wait to hear about some gong smashing. Scotty

Guy,

That is a very nice set up you have.
Williams has been around a long time and their products are of very high quality. FWIW, same folks that built my 280 AI.

Guy,

That particular sight is just okay. I gave one as a Christmas gift to a friend, and he left it on the rifle he had put it on when he sold it. I sure would have liked to had it back. I still have one on my 375 Win (Model 94).

Took about 45 seconds...

The old Marlins have the holes necessary already drilled & tapped on the side of the receiver.

For that matter, the older Remington 700 bolt action rifles also have the holes already drilled & tapped.
