Not sure exactly what you mean.
I have three rifles with slimline muzzlebrakes on them (25-06, 300 SAUM, 338 RUM) put on by Kevin Knight at www.accuraterifle.com . I regularly change between the brake and threaded protector cap on the 300 and 25-06. I have not found any noticable change in POI when changing however I do have a slight increase in average velocity (~25fps) when the brake is on.
I use the brakes when doing most of my load development and shooting off the bench. I use the protector cap when doing most of my hunting. I will use the brake on the 25-06 when shooting prairie dogs as it allows me to watch the bullets hit through the scope. I never take the brake off the 338 RUM :shock:

When a brake is installed the barrel crown is usually also redone. Because of this POI and accuracy can be affected (usually in a good way). Stick with sombody reputable for this kind of work. I have heard horror stories of gunsmiths who have hacked away inches from the barrel to install a brake and caused a lot more problems than they fixed.
