A guy at the range yesterday had a Rem 798 in 270Win that he just picked up for $400 at a local gun shop. It looked very nice and shot well. He was very excited about his find. They've been making quality rifles for a long time now.

They are a good buy at $400. Plus they will fit any large ring Mauser stock with side safety or can be converted to a Gentry safety.

Absolutely. Just wish that set trigger 264 had a 26" tube....

When did the deal with Remington fall apart? I know the Zastava has reorganized a couple of times through the last decade. I assume this is what happened again! Bankruptcy an reorganization is pretty common in that part of Europe. I hope that they make it this time. We need an inexpensive action to make us happy in this market.
