Well I am going to try a higher BC bullet .264 Nosler 129gr ABLR BC .561 or .264 Swift Scirocco II 130gr BC .571. Has the BC tested good on these bullets and correct ? I am using Nosler Brass, CCI 250 primers & Retumbo. My model 70 has a 24 inch barrel. Thanks & if any one has experiences with either bullet I would like to hear about it good or bad. Good Hunting & Shooting. I swear I test more than I hunt I guess that's way most of us are. Thanks

Not sure on the Scirocco's BC, but I'd bet it is a super bullet in the 264. I am running the 140BT and AB in my 264, but the 130's would blaze out at nearly 3400.

Post up your results. I love hearing about the Model 70 264's!

Thanks DrMike makes me want to take a serious look at N570. I have had great success with N133 in .223 Rem. Back to the .264 Win Mag I would guess I would lose 80 to 100 FPS with my 24 inch barrel. It does look like I might make 3200 FPS in my Rifle which if I can't beat a .270 Win with 130 gr bullets what's the point of having a .264 Win Mag. Thanks Again.

I would think you'll easily touch 3250 with a 24" barrel without even leaning hard on it. You'll do real good I bet. I run alot of RL25 in my rifle, but all of the slow burners seem to do really well. Looking forward to seeing how you make out with it.

As Scotty said, 3250 should be readily attainable. I like VN570, and I like RL25. However, IMR 7828 may just give you great performance as well. Any of the slow burners should perform well in this case.

I had no trouble reaching 3250 with 130's in my 24" 264 WM. I ran the 130 gr Swift at 3205 fps with Retumbo and good accuracy, great game bullet too.

I will say the Ballistics of either of these bullets at 3200-3250 is impressive. Would you use either on Elk or just long range Deer Antelope,Black Bear, Caribou ? Thanks

The Swift is a tougher bullet, I would have no issues launching them at moose and elk. The 129 gr ABLR is softer and would prefer to use it on caribou or smaller judging from my experience with them in the 260 Rem. It is still a good bullet though.

I would use either of these bullets from the 264 WM on elk. They will serve you well. I have used on several occasions the 130 grain E-Tip from my 270 WSM on elk and moose, and it dropped them quite smartly. You will generate nearly identical velocities with good sectional density to smack them hard and perform admirably.

I'd run that 130 Swift into elk without too much worry at all. Like Gerry said, they are tough and seem to hold up really well. My son has to pick from a few different rifles to decide on what he wants to carry this Fall, but the 264 Win may get the call. I feel it and the 140AB will handle elk just fine.
