Read a fascinating column this morning that presents statistics for hunter safety in one jurisdiction--Wisconsin.

The take-away is that hunters (and I'd include recreational shooters) are among the most safety-conscious individuals we could ever hope to see. Thugs and wannabe gangsters living especially in our cities create the illusion of danger. Hunters and shooters are distinguished by an immeasurable gulf compared to these thugs. Anti-gunners need to pause and take into consideration who owns all these firearms and how seriously they consider the responsibility with which they are vested.
