I was wondering if someone could run quickload for 7mm rem mag with 180 eldm. It is in 26" barrel and federal brass. I was given 8 lb jug of H870 and was trying to use it. Can't find any load data on it.

Since H870 has been out of production for some time, and because the ELD series of bullets were introduced well after H870 was no longer produced, you won't find information. Fortunately, projections can still be generated with QL. Here you go.

Code:
Cartridge : 7 mm Rem. Mag.(SAAMI)
Bullet : .284, 180, Hornady ELD-M 28503
Useable Case Capaci: 70.847 grain H2O = 4.600 cm³
Cartridge O.A.L. L6: 3.290 inch = 83.57 mm
Barrel Length : 26.0 inch = 660.4 mm
Powder : Hodgdon H870

Predicted data by increasing and decreasing the given charge,
incremented in steps of 1.0% of nominal charge.
CAUTION: Figures exceed maximum and minimum recommended loads !

Consequently, H870 was my "go to" propellant in my 7 RM when I was using 175 grain Partitions and 175 grain Grand Slams. I still have a few pounds hiding around here.

H870 was my choice for the 7mm Rem Mag and the 175 gr Nosler Partition I used to take a good bull elk in 2000. It worked well with Nosler & Sierra 175's.

I've probably still got my old load data filed away here if you'd like it. Only five grains of bullet weight off, but it looks like Dr. Mike has you covered.

A little sooty, but high velocity and fine accuracy. I haven't seen any in quite a few years.

By the way, welcome aboard the Nosler Forum. Nice place here. We'd like to see your results, once you load and test some of those 7mm Rem Mag loads.

Regards, Guy

Same here. I loved the stuff actually. It was the first powder I used in my 7mm Rem Mag and it worked like a champ with 140-175 Noslers!
