Went to the range today and did 2 ladder test with a combination of GRT and Quickload for my Tikka 270 WSM and Hornady 150 G InterBonds. Very happy with the initial results and velocities. On the Hunter, shots 8,9,10 were really close with those 3 average velocity of 3036. Next up with IMR 4831 and it was supposed to be 10 shots but number 9 wouldn't load so I will pull that one. The whole 9 shot group was 1.195 with shots 3-7 averaging 3048 fps. I think I have a good place to start and narrow this down. This will be my cow elk load this fall. To bad Hornady discontinued production of Interbonds.

Joe,
With IMR 4831, I started with 60G and ending around 63. That was around 62,400 PSI. I wanted to stay a fair amount under SAMMI of 65000PSI. I maybe could have pushed it harder but I got the velocities I was looking for and so far, the accuracy looks very promising.

Sound approach. Thanks for the response.

Nice load development so far. I love some Interbonds as well. I was able to find .277 130gr & 150gr Interbonds online just a couple of months ago. Scheels & Euro Optic had some. Not sure about now though.

Finally got back to the range today with the 150G Interbonds. I worked on some 3 shot groups based on ladder test with Hunter and IMR 4831. I think I have a winner with this load of IMR 4831. Velocity was 3034 with no pressure signs. It was 50 degrees and a light breeze. I will play with different brass and primers but pretty happy so far.

i haven't found any imr4831 anywhere in the last 2 years. it's been my go-to since '84 w/140sbt sierra's in 264wm. 61.3grs to be exact.

Texas Life: Full disclaimer: most of the IMR 4831 I have is from 2013-2019. I guess it pays to accumulate some powders.
In the pre64 I used that combo in i decided after 2,500+ rounds thru it to not shoot it any more. I've got around 3# left and for my 2 other 264wm 's I'll be using other powders. I bought a post64 in '15 or '16 that only has 3 rounds down the pipe and 1 i built on a 110 action for the 150smk's. I might use the last 3# for the 270win or who knows which other cartridge? Maybe I'll donate it to you and gift a loving home!

Congratulations on a nice load work up. That should work well for you.
