Are the .358 200gr Accubonds really gone?

I'm always late to the party it seems. I got a box to try in my 35 Whelen a couple years back and never loaded them because a customer service rep told me that they most likely wouldn't expand on whitetail deer. I don't know if that is true or not but now have a box of good looking bullets I guess I'll have to shoot just for fun and giggles! I thought I might take them bear hunting in Alberta next Spring but what good would it be to develop a load with a bullet I can no longer purchase?

I'm stuck with a box of 225 Ballistic tips because of the same problem. Why go through the trouble and expense of developing a load for bullets that are no longer available? I sure hope that Nosler has not abandoned the 225gr Partition as well. That is my go to bullet in my BLR-81 in 358 Winchester. It shoots just as well in my Remington7600 Whelen also.

Nosler, please, PLEASE listen to your customers and bring back the 225 Partition at the very least!

358Goat, back 2013 I bought a used Remington 700 in 35 Whelen and developed a load using RL-15 and 225 ABs. It was using 2 grains under max load. I didn't chrono it so I don't know the velocity.

I killed a big bodied 10 pt at about 90-100 yds and my oldest stepson used it to kill a button buck at a lasered 447 yds. It dropped the button buck in his tracks and my deer staggered a few steps to his right before falling. Exit wounds on both were significant as was internal damage.

I realize this is not the exact bullet you mentioned, but my point in mentioning it is that if the 225 will perform the way I described, I can't imagine why the 200 wouldn't as well.

I got word from Nosler earlier this year that they would be making a run of the 225 PT this year. Well they must have been telling the truth because I saw some pop up earlier this week but they were gone in less than 24hrs. Keep an eye out and be ready to buy them quick!

Not sure why they got rid of the 200 accubonds but sounds like that would be the holy grail in the 358!

I tried them early on thinking the same thing but if I remember right you had to seat the bullet below the ogive to function through a BLR magazine.

They shot excellent in my bolt guns though. My brother has been killing deer with his 358 and 200 AB for a few years now and loves it.

AWESOME!

Positively my favorite bullet in my REM Model 7 in 350RM! I've got several alerts setup on some of the bigger reloading sites, just waiting to get the notice.

Now I've got a bison hunt lined up for JAN, so some 250 PTs would be nice :)

Wonder how they would perform on elk!?

They (the 225s) worked well on a 5x4 I shot in CO.

The cool part about he .358 225s in the M7 is they fit well with the M7s magazine limits of 2.8" and still have a decent BC. I get right at 2740 FPS with IMR4320 out of my 20" barrels which gets me out to 400yds (if needed) and still have plenty of impact velocity.

I could (and will) use them on bison, if I can't come up with either some 250 PTs or 250 Swift A-Frames.

2740 fps!?
Yup, over an Ohler 35P and a LabRadar, but I'm about out of IMR4320, so might be switching to TAC.

Barnes lists 2760 with their 225 an TAC, so I'll probably get close to my 2740. My 350RM is one of the custom shop guns that started as an MS:

That I Cerakoted and dropped in a Manners EH8. Scoped it's now under 7lbs.

Wow that’s a sweet load! Hopefully Tac works well for you! It sure is the cats meow in the 358 Winchester!

I use TAC in my 358Win and 350RM with the 200grn Hornady Interlocks.

I just haven't had time to switch the 350RM over yet. I've still got 25rds loaded of 225PTs and 115 225PTs in boxes, so after this season I'll make the switch. Once I developed the 200grn Hornady load the 225s went on the back burner as the 200s have worked great on deer and hogs.

In the 358W I'm loading 180 Speer HotCors for deer and pigs.

I hear that! Too many good options to just stick to one. I have some 180 speers also. Been wanting to play with them but don’t know where to start. Would probably be the perfect bullet for my deer hunting. Are you running tac with that bullet too?

Yup!

53.6 TAC over FED 215 in re-formed Grafs 308Win brass for 2652FPS @ 70F. OAL is pretty long due my throat and mag length. It's a 19" JES 3 groove re-bore:

This one went longways through a boar at 10' and ended up in the hind quarter. It's the only one I've managed to recover.

I really like this bullet for the 358W.

Wow! Thanks for sharing chuck I really appreciate it! I have a nice stock pile of 180 speers and tac. I will definitely start a little lower and work up to your load. Looks like a winner to me!
