35 Whelen new loads

First off I do not mind other stuff coming up on a thread I start at all. Speaking of that I will do it myself. I got my Model 600 350 mag at age 12. The only thing ever shot through it was max 250 grain loads. To say that little 18 inch barreled thing kicked would be an understatement. At the time my father had a 375H&H and it was a dream to shoot in comparison. After dad built me my 35 Whelen the 350 stayed in the gun safe other than when someone would say recoil did not bother them. Never had anyone shoot the one in the pipe and three in the magazine. Most often one or two was all they wanted. A 20 inch barrel with a break would go a long way to taming the little mule.

Shooting a 350 magnum with 250s at the age of 12 is impressive! I remember the first time I shot a 300 win mag when I was 10. I still wear that scar lol

Sure.. it started out as a 20" barreled MS from the custom shop:

That weighed 8lbs all up with a Swarovski 1.25-4X. With it I killed a couple elk, some deer and a few pigs. It was a little heavy for what I wanted as I aged (gracefully, I might add), and showing its age with wear. So I had it CeraKoted in midnight blue and dropped in a Manners EH8 stock. Total weight "all up" is 6.5lbs with a Leupold VX3HD 2.5-8x36 in Warne QD mounts. I maintain 2 scopes for it, the Swarovski and the Leupold in the QDs. Accuracy remained the same with both stocks.

The Mannlicher stock alone weighed 42.6 ounces, Manners is 24 ounces.

Merry Christmas back!
Always loved that version of the Model 7! Too bad they didn't build it in left hand!
Still, I probably wouldn't pass on one in 250 Savage or 257 Roberts should I ever come across one...

My daughter's bf bought this m600 350 Rem Mag this past summer. It is a shooter with the Hornady 200 gr RN and the Nosler 225 gr PT.
He replaced the old Redfield 1-4x with a Leupold VX-1 3-9x40mm and I believe he will add a Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad to take the sting out of it.
