I was given 2 boxes of round nose bullets. 180gr and 160gr.
Now I reloaded the 180rn into my 300wsm for black bear. They shot extremely well 1.75 inch groups at 50yards. For bear it was fine with me and I did take a bear that never took another step. My question is I can't find reloading data for the 160gr. Do I go with other 160gr bullet reloading data? I have my 300wsm, 30-06

What Fotis said.
Just curious… what make is the 160 gr RN?

the Remington core lokt , 180 Round nose bullets , was my Dads favorite bullet for hunting . sometimes it really made a mess out of the deer . Dad had one centerfire rifle , a 30.06

There was a time when the good ol round nose was about all anyone would use for big game. They simply work!

I read somewhere that the rem cl round nose had thicker jackets than spritzer cl. I don't remember where I read it but think might have been handloadee magazine

I'd be a little cautious with a round nose in a bigger centerfire like a 30-06 and above if your pushing the velocity for big game. Using one meant for 30-30 velocities could be...interesting. Personally I'd run some in milk jugs to see how they perform at the velocity and distance you plan on using them at.

Many years ago I ran some 30-30 150 gr SPCLs in my 30-06. Shot a small buck that was quartering hard towards me. The impart made him rear up and almost flipped him over backwards. He had it a few jumps and piled up. I recovered the jacket under the hide on the off side. It looked like a gernade had gone off inside his chest.
Learned my lesson and went to heavier bullets. I wish I could find some 308 220 gr SPCL bullets for my 308 Win. The Sierra 220!gr RN shoots sub MOA at 2430 fps. Impressive performance in my book for a 22” 308 Winchester.

150 grain in 30/06 using a 30/30 likely to light. The 170 grain round nose 30/30 Partition bullets work fine.

I shoot 150 grain bullets in a 30-06 all the time and they kill deer just fine without making a mess, it’s not the weight so much as the bullet construction.

Well I just made a big score sorta speak. A much older friend 92 yrs old called to stop by. He gave me all his 30cal bullets for reloading. Box of 125 Sierra's, 150 gr gameking,165 game king, 165 accubonds, 165 ballistic tip (at least 200) box of 150gr Hornady interlock.
