What gun should be the Idaho State gun?

I don’t know much Idaho history but what is the connection between those firearms and the great state of Idaho? The 1911 being the state firearm of Utah makes perfect sense though that could be said of many of John Browning’s designs.
CT should have the M70, NY should have the Rem 700 although these days those two states would be more likely to adopt the water pistol.

There’s three that say Idaho to me.

1) Winchester Model 70 in .338 Win Mag.
This says Idaho Elk and Elmer Keith to me.

2) S&W Model 29, .44 Remington Magnum. Another Elmer Keith memorial.

3) Winchester Model 70 in .270 Winchester. This one pays tribute to the self important legend in his own mind Jack O’Conner. To me the cartridge is more appropriate for Arizona Coues Deer than Idaho Elk.

Both Elmer Keith and Jack O’Conner were Idaho residents but to me Mr. Keith was the epitome of Idaho grit and toughness. Jack O’Conner was someone that bloviated flatulence not fit for consumption. I realize my opinion of Jack O’Conner is not in the mainstream. That comes from meeting him as a kid.

Of the firearms on the ballot, poor ballot choices in my opinion, I’d select the Colt SAA because Mr. Keith blew a few up wanting to extract more power from the handgun cartridges of the day.
