So I still get weather Alerts for the Alaska Peninsula though I’ve been retired for a few years. About 4 years ago we suffered through the same event, I called home told Catherine how bad it was. She hung up on me. Apparently it was 117 degrees on our back deck. Anyway for your entertainment. Locals do have a tough time with more than a couple days of this in all seriousness.

People are so weak nowadays. Allergies as well. Everyone you talk to these days has some sort of allergy. When I was a kid and didn't like to eat something they'd just feed us more until we got used to it.

Haha. I would happily pay for that weather now! I am over the 95+ days with 90% humidity. The harsh temps will start to subside a little here in VA soon and I can just start to see the afternoon shadows get a little longer in the second half of August.

Shorter days really start to become apparent at this latitude. On August 1 we would have 18 hours of daylight and add a little twilight on top of that. Sunrise would be about 0600 sunset about 2030. August first was battery check day on all our rifle lights, and flash lights in the guest cabins.
By the end of the month we were down to 14hours of daylight, sunrise was about 0730 sunset 2130 and the twilight effect was gone. Wouldn’t leave the dock until 0700. On top of that we would have frequent morning fog. Things would get a little spooky going into September. Salmon are largely done, carcasses everywhere. Very few fresh fish so the bears really start prowling around. Going down to the dock and guest cabins to check on things takes on a whole new perspective when it’s dark.
