Last November I got into a hunting camp. I've always wanted a cabin/ camp, but it had to be close to home. The business I own prevents me from traveling far away to belong to a camp. When the opportunity arose for this one, I jumped on it. The camp consists of a cabin on about 900 acres. Outside of that, it is surrounded by 85000 acres of state forest. Basically you can wander wherever you want. Truthfully, probably won't do a ton of hunting there, but I try to get to the cabin once a month or more for the20251109_164235.jpg day/ afternoon. Anyone else belong to a camp? If you do share your pictures. Its always neat to see other camps/ cabins.

Mine is a couple of wall tents. This year our crew is light, we’ll only set up one. Would love to have a set up like that, looks great. I’m trying to identify the pine needles in the top of the picture frame. Can you tell me the species?

Very nice-looking camp. I was in a camp for a few years. Not as nice as yours but was plenty comfortable. Tent camping with a good setup and good guys can be enjoyable as well. Did that and it was good times.

There are different species of pines in south central PA. My guess is it is either pitch pine or white pine. These are the two that are most common at camp. I will look next weekend when I am up there and confirm.

Love the fireplace to get warmed by after a cold day in the field!

Have spent some time in wall tent camps...
Was spoiled when I went guiding with my Dad and we stayed in the cabins the outfitter had in their territory.

May get a small cabin set up in the territory by a small lake I like to fish, that has good bear, moose and elk hunting nearby...someday. Would save having to have two vehicles to haul the boat or UTV and the holiday trailer for camping it. Luckily it's just an hour away. The other similar site is a couple of hours away in a different area. We'll see what life brings!

Catherine has her Dr. In Forest science she was guessing white pine. Me, I was just a logger when I was young. I just look at where I can fall them.
You look at where you can fall trees and I look at how many cows I can put on a patch of ground.
