The canalure is not even close the hot core sits much h lower. Was going to do the same thing out of my 1886 I just picked up. But there is loads for the trap door that still push that bullet to 1700fps. If you look up on speeds web sight and read between the lines you could still bump the...
"What did you think of the 350 Speer?"
Well. I have shot 3 animals with them now and none have been close 90 plus yards. I have yet to recover one of them. I was hoping for a 25 yard shot broad side but the wind was not in our favour. The moose quartering a bit toward us. The bullet entered his...
I shot this moose with the 350 gr hot core one shot 100 yards down he went while walking up to him he started to roll over so I shot him one more time in the neck at the base of his head but with my 405 woodleigh bullet it was about 30 yards this what bullet looked like after traveling close to...
shot this guy with 350 gr hotcore it was quartering toward me the bullet bullet went in the front right shoulder and out the right hind quarter it ran right down his spine. I used my 1885 high wall 45-70
Recoil is not that bad my gun does not have a straight pull stock. For off the bench I use slip on recoil pad. For hunting well I always have two or more layers of hoodies or jackets besides it just one shot. This what my gun looks like.
These are are some 475 gr lead spire points @1450 fps that is the slowest I can get them with the data I have from the Lyman 49 reloading book. Very fun to shoot.
The picture does not show but the pedals tore off the one side. Then again how many animals are made of wood and sand. I just use that media so I could capture the bullet. I was getting tired for lining up 15 water jug to get one bullet that's a lot of milk to drink.
