"What did you think of the 350 Speer?"
Well. I have shot 3 animals with them now and none have been close 90 plus yards. I have yet to recover one of them. I was hoping for a 25 yard shot broad side but the wind was not in our favour. The moose quartering a bit toward us. The bullet entered his...
I shot this moose with the 350 gr hot core one shot 100 yards down he went while walking up to him he started to roll over so I shot him one more time in the neck at the base of his head but with my 405 woodleigh bullet it was about 30 yards this what bullet looked like after traveling close to...
shot this guy with 350 gr hotcore it was quartering toward me the bullet bullet went in the front right shoulder and out the right hind quarter it ran right down his spine. I used my 1885 high wall 45-70
Recoil is not that bad my gun does not have a straight pull stock. For off the bench I use slip on recoil pad. For hunting well I always have two or more layers of hoodies or jackets besides it just one shot. This what my gun looks like.
These are are some 475 gr lead spire points @1450 fps that is the slowest I can get them with the data I have from the Lyman 49 reloading book. Very fun to shoot.
The picture does not show but the pedals tore off the one side. Then again how many animals are made of wood and sand. I just use that media so I could capture the bullet. I was getting tired for lining up 15 water jug to get one bullet that's a lot of milk to drink.
The first pic show top view to see how much it expanded
The second pic is the same bullet on a quarter this bullet was min load at 2250 fps since then I up the load two grains This summer I will take it to max I should get 2450 to 2500 just to see if I can these loads are right out of the Speer...

Thanks for all the input I have told him most of the things that were stated
from all your comments. Its funny how some people get stuck in their own ways and ideas I just ignore it now.
I have been relaoding for 15 years and this is news to me. I was helping a friend load up some 357 mag loads for his hand gun he had only reloaded for rifles and was not sure how to reaload them. While i was setting up my dies he was looking at my hunting bullets for my rifles and he noticed the...
I thought of a 375 in a scout but you have open up the bolt face and rework rails were if i stay 30-06 case it leaves more opions. I can not remeber who showed the pic of 375 scout in the p-17 action but that is what got me thinking about this new project . I am going to go with the 35 whelen...
What vel are you getting in the 338-06 with 225.
The 26" tube was just a thought it . It would probobly be 24 or 22 just because I was thinking of a goo heavey timber gun for elk and moose shots under 300-250 yards.
