I have used the 100 grain ballistic tips. If memory serves me I seated longer that the book length but not by a lot due to the short throat in the Ruger m77. It wouldn't have mattered much since I never crimp rifle rounds except for the AR.
Guy, you know that's part of the reason I love wildlife photography. That and the love and fascination with animals in general. In a way its a lot like hunting. Even when I go somewhere like the Smokies where the animals are both abundant and also used to seeing people, there is no guarantee of...
It was tough to get good images of this little one and it's sibling who is out of view in this shot. Distance required the 500mm = 1.4 tc and light caused a much higher ISO than I would have preferred but with wildlife you get what they give.
We saw 8 bears on Saturday evening and on Sunday we were there all day and had 23 sightings. I say sightings because some of the 2-3 year olds could have the same ones but I'm sure that there were well over 10 separate bears that day.
My wife and I managed to get away last weekend and spend a couple of days just riding through Cades Cove in The Great Smokey Mountains National Park.
We saw lot of animals, bear, whitetail deer and turkey and of course the beautiful scenery. Here is one of the shots I managed to come home with.
Well not near as many as most of you guys but here goes.

The past few years I've only hunted with a handgun and have passed up shots on small bucks and does while carrying an xp100 in a couple of...
Excellent photo Guy. I haven't really had the camera out since these bird photos except for a few shots during the recent lunar eclipse. I hope to get a weekend trip to try for newborn black bear cubs within the next month.
I have both the Hornady and the RCBS and they both work fine. I had the RCBS first but a few years back I needed a certain caliber collet and the RCBS wasn't available anywhere but I could get the Hornady puller and the correct collet locally.
Mine is a 22" barrel. I wasn't even aware that they had made it in a 24" barrel except for magnum chamberings. After I thought about it I believe mine was purchased in either '87or '88. My wife and I were married in 86 so I know it was a little while after that.
Just curious is this featherweight a controlled round feed or a push feed and if it is a push feed what did the synthetic stock look like.
The reason I ask is that I have a New Haven Featherweight XTR push feed 270 Winchester from 1986 I believe and it came with a McMillian fiberglass stock
that...
Guy the Canon 1.4tc version 2 which is what I have is pretty sharp when paired with the Canon L series lens. The 1.4TC version 3 is supposed to be a little sharper that the v2 but I haven't found a reason to change. The 500 f4L is amazing and it's a v1 lens it is heavy though. They say the v2 of...
