Just adding a little content to the forum. I started working on a couple of new loads for this rifle. 53gr Vmax and 35gr NTX. Hopefully I can get the 53gr Vmax to shoot because for some reason I decided to stack them deep before knowing, lol. 35gr NTX in case I want to shoot some ground...
I bought Winchester brass for several cartridges based on reputation but it’s ranged from horrible to not great. I know the older stuff was pretty good (white/blue bag) but the black and red bag stuff…I’m done with it.
I happened to load some 120 ttsx in my 7mm-08 today. My load is 50gr Leverevolution with a CCI 250m primer in Starline .308 brass. Couldn’t find 7mm-08 brass for a good while but I do have some Starline 7mm-08 now. I get 3250fps in a 22” barrel with this load, accuracy is about an inch which is...
I hope that is true! I like my .243 with a 9 twist barrel(Handles 105gr hpbt) but I need an excuse to swap it out with an 8 or 7.5 twist in something a little more exciting like .243 AI or even 6 PRC.
Yeah it would! Except why mess around….Nosler should just make it 120gr and get ahead of the curve for once. I’m not sure, that may take a faster twist than 1:8?
Unless I’m mistaken, they still make a 105gr gr in 6mm. Not a “hunting” bullet but I have used it on antelope and it did the job. They also make 108gr Eld-m as well as 110gr a-tip. You’re more likely to see a 115gr-120gr Eld-m from Hornady than a 105gr from Nosler IMO. Nosler is about 3 steps...
I always either use Murphy precision 1913 pic base/pic rings(There’s several good ones) or DNZ base/rings. I love both, the DNZ are substantially lighter being made of aluminum.
Got home a few days ago with this Antelope buck. Best one I’ve got to date. Not very tall and front cutters aren’t notable, but has a trash point and heavy mass. 425yds with a 7mm REM mag, 180gr Eld-M.
I’m not entirely sure but, I just used 4 points for the toughest hunt I’ve been on to date. Yes, my friend and I were both successful on bucks but it was about the same as what I’ve experienced on leftover tags 10 years ago. I’d expect that you could do pretty well with 15 points but my guess...
