    ABLR terminal performance?

When sorted the POI will usually change between different length groups of bullets, but flyers within the same length bullets are eliminated. Completely.. My best groups are barely touching the lands. I haven’t tried more than about .010” jump, however. Within a box, the variation in BTO length...

Why no Nosler load data for 6.8 Western

If you get into a box that seems finicky, sort them based on Base to Ogive length, to the nearest thousandth. For me they shoot really tight groups right at touching the lands, when the bullets are the same length. Not overall length, Basie to ogive.

    ABLR terminal performance?

It’s expansion and penetration, nice exits but nothing gory. Lungs blown to stew. I shot some deer and pigs last year at mild MV, around 2850. Farthest kill was a 200+ lb boar at 240yds, got an exit from a crease shot, he didn’t make it 25 yds. Same result double-lung shooting deer, maybe 50yds...

    Velocity and accuracy

Full pressure/higher load density is where I find my best loads. Again and again and again. I do enjoy higher velocity, but use long barrels and generous case sizes rather than excessive pressure.

    To anneal or not?

It has benefits, one is case life if you are splitting necks and shoulders. More consistent neck tension for better long range results. Cases are also easier to shoulder bump, consistently.

    416 Cutting Edge

Those big bullets at mild velocity just seem stable. Not fussy. My .416 REM lays the factory loads I’ve tried in tight also. Standard m70.

Do you wear latex gloves while reloading?

Never. Wouldn’t hurt to use leather when I’m shuffling them out of the AMP machine though. Slow learner here.

    Die to press alignment

I’ve had good results with 21st Century. Most of the time it’s not so critical but sometimes it sure is.

    Weird

I’ve had more trouble with the little bit of nosler brass giving up the ghost prematurely than ADG and Peterson combined, in many more cartridges. No visible pressure signs then releasing the primer next firing for instance.? Just screwy, with no warning.

    Winchester Model 70 Alaskan

Classic beauty, with great function. And capability. I actually have the .416 Rem in SE I guess it is? Has the barrel band for the front swivel.

What is your favourite metric cartridge?

A bunch of 7mm chamberings. Like 4-5 over the years. The bullet weight choices along with different case sizes are all just wonderful, something perfect for everyone from kids at short range and light recoil (120’s) to 180-190-195gr long range high BC. With plenty good BT and AB selections in...
