I was really worried with our mild winter, luckily we ended up with more snow in April and May then we did in Jan/Feb. nothing has popped yet but it is only a matter of time, No snow to speak of left in the mountains and a week of breezy 90+ days dries things out quickly
We broke some records over the weekend getting over 100 here in Montana, but it is a dry heat! no fires here yet but getting some hazy smoke from CAN and MN they are saying. I wish humidity on no one at any temp over 80.

That is what I built my 264WM on with a 25" standard rem sporter contour , I wasn't going for the lightest I could build, but it is in the 8# range and could drop 4-5oz just replacing the SS bottom metal with Alum.
I guess my method would be considered spot and stock, but it is mostly taking a longish hike with a rifle and backpack and hoping if/when you "spot" something worth "stalking" that you are not already too far from the truck. Sometimes I get lucky 😁
Gil, I guess it depends on what you want to do with the rifle, you know the 700 has any aftermarket part you would ever need. I've only had 1 xbolt. But the Sako is my favorite, i like the butterly smooth bolt, the trigger, the safety, and flush detachable magazine.
