Last year I worked up a load in my Sako Forrester 308 Win using Tac powder, Nosler 125gr AB, Win case and CCI 200 primers. Results were as follows:
Average for four shots
MV= 2957.2 ES= 20.8 SD= 7.7
Couple days ago, I shot this same load with the same components with these results"
MV= 3029.2...
At 300 yds that looks good to me. As for the distraction and more clicks than intended I did something somewhat similar yesterday myself. Was sighting my Sako 308 win with the 125gr AB load and made an adjustment , shot, wasn't quite enough so instead of shooting another shot to make sure I made...
I have found that using the tumbler with corn cob media make sure to put enough of the polishing media in it when first using and to refresh each time with some more. If case necks are extremely dirty, I put some of the polish on a rag and twist the rag around the necks a couple times before...
I had a Winchester Mod 70 7mmRM that grouped the Remington 150gr CL factory better than the Winchester Supreme factory loads. So, try them see what it does. IMR4831, IMR7828 and RL22 did well in mine with my handloads.
You have been given lots of good advice. There is something you might consider if this is an area you will hunt fairly often. Go thru this mess and cut some lanes-trails following deer trails making wider or make your own. Do this well before season starts so they will get used to it. Then slip...
Welcome. As has been stated the twist is what I would be checking first. Use your cleaning rod and mark it. Easily done. There was a range member years ago who had a bench-groundhog rifle built in 257 Ackley with a 1-12 twist as he didn't plan on using it for deer. So, it is possible someone had...
I used a Furry .358 220gr in my 35 Whelen couple years ago and it did well on a WV whitetail. Grouped under an inch at 100yds and held together pretty well in a jug test at that distance going into 4th or fifth jug. So, I'd say it was a worthwhile bullet.
