Scope Mounting Question

I have the Tipton Best Gun Vise, which is great for cleaning but sucks for scope mounting. What do you all use to hold your rifle solid to mount a scope?

I use the Tipton vise for mounting scopes with no problems. I also use the Wheeler Leveling System.

I use the Tipton 360. It sits on a swivel and I can level the gun and know my scope and gun are both true.

Here is what I currently have, although Grice just got one in that I think I may switch over. It has more options for positioning your guns. I don't recall the name. If I switch over, i'll be sure to share.

What I have been using on my last few scope mounts are precision parallel roll pins (in .001 increments) that I had which I place between the scope rail & the bottom of the scope under the elevation turret which is flat....This ensures a dead parallel mounting of the scope to the rail/receiver. Also, I prefer one piece vs two piece mounting solutions.

I've been wanting to buy a scope jack like this one, but what I have works.

I really like the fix it sticks, pretty cool concept. I sometimes struggle with torquing down the rings and having the scope rotate in the rings. I'm thinking the fix it sticks would eliminate that problem.

I use feeler gauges under the flat bottom of the scope . you have to be careful though . as you tighten the scope pull out a few thousandths of gauge , so you don't bend the scope . I "THINK" I put a review in the new products on here , about the wedges for aligning scopes . they didn't work out too good for me . I've also read , not all reticles are aligned to the flat bottom on all scopes . nightforce recommends feeler gauge method I mentioned above .

level the rifle on a bipod, affix the scope, with the rifle level, line the reticle up with a plumb line, I use a post in a tennis court fence that I checked for plumb with a level. then I run the verticle adjustment stop to stop and watch it crawl up and down the edge of the post. If it wanders off the edge I turn the scope slightly till its right.

I do it much like Ridge Runner but I build a clamp on level holder that goes on the barrel because I use Talley's alot versus rails. Its a couple 1x2's clamped together and drilled for several different barrel diameters with a plate of 1/4" steel bolted to the top for the magnetic level. I get it set using a level on the Talley's as well as on my clamp on set up. I have a nail in a strategic place in the house for leveling crosshairs.

I used to use the feeler gauges but got the Wheeler years ago for Christmas.
I have a wedge set like that but I seem to mount my scopes too low to the base , they don’t fit in between.
