New browning BAR Mk4

Looking at a new BAR mk4 . Not sure if I want the 308 or 30-06 yet . I want to load for it , but never loaded for a automatic. Thinking 150g Partition or similar bullet .
Maby h4895 , varget ? Want a temp stable powder . It seems h4895 is close to IMR 4895 and that was made for the m1
The 308 is a 12twist
The 3006 is a 10

Those are nice reliable semi-autos. Either caliber you mentioned would be good. Both easy to load for in semi-autos. Fellow church member has one in 30-06. He wanted to be able to eat up to the hole without alot of bloodshot damage. So, I developed him a load using H4895 and a Sierra 180gr GameKing bullet loafing along at about 2600fps. He has been pleased with the accuracy and deer killing results. For what it's worth I used a full length sizing die for his loads and it does just fine cycling thru the action without any problems. Let us know which one you get and how it does for you.

Nice looking rifle. Choosing the chambering may be determined by the intended purpose.
With modern powders there really isn’t a difference between the 308 Win and 30-06 Spfg. Either one will get you across the finish line.

I may go 3006 not sure yet . 308 will do the job also
How did you determine the starting load ?

Use a reloading manual start low and gradually work up. Using a conagraph can help you and save on reloading components by doing a ladder test. If not start about 3 grains below the maximum listed load and load 4 rounds . Then increase the next load by .5 gr then the next .5 gr till you get to the maximum. Take your time let the barrel cool and keep good records of each of your loads you are testing, shooting for groups.
