Hello, I am having difficulty getting Gordon's and reality to match up. Terminal Ascent isn't listed in GordonsRT, and it's not in any of my books. Hoping to get a Quickload for
-7mm-08, .284
-22" barrel
-155gr Terminal ascent, 1.514", .586 B.C.
-Fired Nosler Brass, 56.6gr CC water
-Powder, Ramshot Hunter, *picking up Superformance powder tomorrow, would be nice to see this one as well, thanx in advance, I would be very grateful.

My velocity is really low compared to where GRT thinks it's supposed to be. 1) I might have to move my chronograph further back 3' currently. 2) might have to try magnum primers. 3) might have to verify with a different chronograph. 4) might need more powder to build higher pressures for the ball powder. I was showing 2398 and was expecting 2600. I ended at 45gr. I believe Nosler data for 160gr and Ramshot Hunter is 49gr powder.

I space my Chrono 10-15 ft from muzzle, muzzle blast can and will give some funky readings. 2...Magnum primers could help a little bit but is probably not the panacea of the issue.... 3...Possible Chrono issue valid. Probably not though.

Number 4 is the winner IMO, keep adding powder while watching velocity numbers, (there will be a place you must stop though) and looking for high pressure indicators, cratering, flattening etc,, ejector marks on case, sticky bolt, hard to extract cases, be advised, while primer condition has always been used to determine high pressure I have always believed that once this shows up your cartridge pressure is a good bit above the SAMMI pressure standard for that cartridge, which for the 708 is 61,000 psi.

In my estimation cratered primers and the other case issues, if caused by high pressure are a buzzing rattlesnake. Don't let it bite you!! It might or might not kill you, but it'll leave a mark regardless!

I am around 49 grains of Hunter with a 162 ELDM in Lapua brass with CCI250’s. It’s a full case of powder and speeds right at 2700.

If Hunter doesn’t get you the speed you want you may wanna try Big Game with the 155. I’d keep pushing up in charge weight, you should be good for 2700 with the 155 TA.

Have you scrolled to the bottom of this page and read through the “similar threads” section. Some very good suggestions if you can be flexible with your powder selection-
