I've only shot two deer with mine, both were head shots, at 75 yards and 125 yards. I loaned my gun to a friend and she killed an antelope buck at more than 300 yards with a single shot to the chest, dropped right there...
Mine is a Ruger M77 MKII .25/06 50.5 grains of AA3100 with the 110 Accubond
Don't worry, it works... I killed two this year with my .25/06 and 110 Grain Accubonds... both were head shots and completely obliterated the skulls...
How technical are you getting? The powder itself only burns in the case... the flame is very large and it does extend out the muzzle... The powder contains all the oxygen it needs to burn in the case and propellant itself...
Mine is a Ruger, but it shoots the 140 Ballistic Tips very well. You could try the Hornady 100 gr hollow points for varmints but they are very short bullets and may not stabilize. That mountain rifle is pretty light as well and won't stand up to much prairie doggin', but would make an excellent...
All my revolvers are Rugers, 2 GP100s and a .45 Colt Vaquero.
Autos are all over the place, Dan Wesson 1911, Charles Daly 1911, Springfield Armory double stack 1911, Browning BDM, Beretta 96, Beretta 8045, Kel Tec P3AT, Kel Tec P32, Hungarian Makarov, Mauser 1914.
I've got a 96FS. I've carried it and used it in IDPA competition for several years. Its an excellent pistol. I'd recommend the meprolight sights. I have a Bar-Sto barrel on mine, which is a possible upgrade. The big advantage to the 96 is that you can get a .357 Sig Bar Sto barrel for it, pretty...
I hunted with my grandpa's Ruger M77 .25/06 for several years, received a Ruger M77 MKII .25/06 as a graduation gift. I started with a Ruger 10/22 when I was 12 or 13, shot countless thousands of rabbits and coyotes with it, now it has a Volquartsen action, barrel, stock, & trigger.

I'm gonna have about $2500 to play with... Its most likely gonna go in part to a DPMS AR15 with a 20" or 24" bull barrel. Another little bit is gonna go towards an RCBS Turret press, casemate prep station, and maybe a decent scope for the AR...
