I think the load was at fault, and I'm pretty sure the POI shift had to do with temperature and a side to side vibration. I took some shots at 350 yards this morning with my trusted load, and both shots hit a bit right, (I'd expect that from spin drift.)
2 Shots With AK-47 at 350 Yards
That is...
I've reloaded for 30-06 and 30-30 the longest, I've had cases last over 70 firings in both; and seem to be going strong. I wouldn't think the 243 would be any different.
I neck size only, anneal every 7 shots, and don't use hot loads.
Good luck!
Well... I got a 3 inch group at 200 yards but the POI had shifted to the left. I'm pretty sure it was because I was shooting at dawn and the front sight had glare making it a bit hard to line up properly. As the day progressed the POI ended-up centered but I'm still not sure there isn't a load...
I tried a ladder test today and my results weren't bad.
My first 3 cartridges were loaded from 19.2-19.6 grains, their POIs were sub-moa at 200 yards with a velocity of 1927, 1957 and 1956fps. So I'm going to test that node with a charge weight of 19.4.
Here is what a case head looks like with...
I saw a post about using H110 in a 7.62x39 cartridge and wondered if anyone had tried it.
Here is a post in a thread on that subject..
(Load data from Guns and Ammo mag.)
I am wondering if a safe load could be developed using a 150gr bullet.
I've tried H4198 but the velocity was below 1800fps...
Most people just can't believe a lever action can shoot well; even owners of them. Mine shoots as well as my 30-06s, it is just a bit more susceptible to wind. But just like any firearm, it is simply wind estimation and math.
My cat just loves shooting. I tried to tell him him stay home since there was a lot of walking involved, but he was having none of that.
That is the cutest cat picture!
Thanks!
I figured since I used a Nosler bullet, I would post the video here.
Winchester 30-30 at 575 Yards
Believe it or not, if I would have left the sight set at the setting I set it last night, I would have hit it on the first shot. I was thinking it was further than it was when I was setting the...
In my area i shoot in fairly extreme temperature swings, from 95ºF to -10ºF is not uncommon. So i have a summer load I use along with a winter load.
Even using Varget a Hodgdon Extreme powder i need to have 2 different loads.
Here is a video of a 350 yard miss, (1 of 3, all close POIs,) using...
Hang-fire. I get that with a light charge of H414 in my 30-06 in cold temperatures. I cured it with a stouter charge, some fix it with a magnum primer.
Supposedly H110 in a 45 colt cartridge will cause a very dangerous condition with a light charge. I have never experienced a hang-fire using...
I usually seat my bullets to near what the book says, or right on the edge of the cannelure. In special cartridge, like when I use the 168gr A-max in my 30-30, (loaded directly into the chamber,) I'll seat them at the lands for accuracy.
If I load the 168gr A-Max in my 30-06s, I simply seat...
I've never found a bullet that my firearms didn't like.
What I've heard is that if your crown is a bit flawed, a boat-tail will push on the boat-tail surface with the expelled gasses unevenly. Whereas a flat based bullet does not have a surface for the expelling gasses to have leverage against...
