Norma nosler accubond Vs Federal nosler accubond

not sure if you're asking about factory loaded ammo or the bullets for reloading. Federal does load the Nosler accubond which sells for about $32 usd. Norma may load the accubond as well but I couldn't find it. A Nosler accubond bullet is the same bullet regardless of who loads it. Different...

    E-Tip

Excellent! I commend Nosler for coming up with a lead-free alternative. I've been working up loads for Barnes TSX and Lapua Naturalis because my personal choice is to use only lead-free bullets (it's the fragmentation that leaves bullet fragments in gutpiles which are consumed by scavengers...

    260 Rem & Twist Rate

go here for a twist rate calculator: http://www.netrifle.com/shortmags/ref_d ... teCalc.asp You'll need the length of the bullet you're thinking about using. The two 6.5mm (0.264") bullets I have on hand and the recommended twist are: 140gr Lapua Naturalis (all copper roundnose): length =...

Price of reloading is definitely up these days

I think the cost of raw materials (e.g., copper, lead, etc.) is whats driving the increase in prices. With China consuming more and more for their own use in addition to that they use for exported (to us) manufactured goods, I wouldn't expect things to get any better.

    Nosler Custom Brass

thicker brass means less internal volume, assuming the exterior dimensions are the same as brass from any other manufacturer. This is generally confirmed by weighing the brass. The Nosler brass I've used (7mm Rem mag) weighed more than either Remington or Winchester but less than Federal...

    PACT powder scale

I just got a pact scale and went through the calibration a couple of times. What yotesmoker describes sounds right but I'm on the road right now and don't have the instructions with me. the link for manuals: http://www.pact.com/manuals_low.html

    Temp and Velocity

I keep looking at Ebay for good prices on blade micrometers....and keep getting out bid! I am just getting started reloading and am very interested in excessive pressure signs. The results I mentioned in my earlier post were from my 1st shot at working up a load. A very helpful person, whom I...

    Temp and Velocity

Dubyam, Hodgdon's 2004 manual talks about 2 methods of measuring expansion: 1. at the expansion ring (just ahead of the belt on belted mag's) and 2. at the "web"(just ahead of the extractor groove as outlined in Hornady Handbook of Cartridge Reloading). Both methods compare expansion of new...

    Temp and Velocity

theoretically, everything being held constant but temperature, the bullet should travel faster as temp. increases. Think of a hot air balloon: the air in the balloon is heated, the air molecules exhibit greater movement with resultant greater intermolecular space and lower air density (in the...

    165 TSX COL

Barnes just updated/recreated their website. It now features access to TSX loads (the ones they've developed so far) that will be published in their manual #4. http://www.barnesbullets.com/information/load-data/ They show 3.340 COAL for your cartridge.

Okay thanx. I've had good results with the custom brass in 7mm Rem mag and am looking forward to trying the 260 Rem

    Case Length?

I think that's the SAAMI standard length you are referring to. Individual chambers can vary so it may be that the SAAMI "trim to length" may not exactly match the dimension of your chamber. Not knowing the length of your chamber it's probably safest to use the SAAMI spec's. From what I've...

loads for 7mm mag using Nosler custom brass and 160gr Barnes

loaded up the Nosler custom Brass (7mm Rem mag), using Fed 215M primers, and Barnes 160gr triple shocks.... H4831 gave me the best results with 64 grains allowing 2943 fps which is right there with the Federal factory load using the same bullet (advertised velocity of 2940 fps) Also tried H1000...

    How much increase...

I can't talk to how crimping will affect pressures but I wonder why you would feel the need to crimp. From what I've read crimping is only necessary if shooting a lever action, semi-auto, or with the larger magnums. I hunt w/ a bolt action 7mm rem mag so don't see the need to crimp. I'm new to...

7mm Rem mag Nosler custom brass weight check/confirmation

I just weighed a batch (50 count) of Nosler Custom Brass 7mm Rem Mag. The results confirm what Nosler advertises for their custom brass: Avg weight = 236.0 grains minimum = 235.4 grains max = 236.4 grains Standard deviation = 0.3 grains I haven't measured case length yet but one did have a...

loads for 7mm mag using Nosler custom brass and 160gr Barnes

I only have one deprimed Winchester cartridge so that's what I used for a comparison weight. I averaged 5 Nosler brass to get the weight posted....the Nosler brass is pretty consistent but I'll weigh more (I have 50). I'll also deprime the other used brass (federal and Winchester) to get a...
