    Mountain Ti mounts

So I just put new Leupold Dual dovetail mounts on my A bolt Mountain Ti. Now I see that the front mount is only contacting right where the screws are. Please help...I did not know that this gun was different than a regular A bolt...anyone know where to get the right ones?

new caliber for me to reload-.300 WSM

That is the primer I first used in my .325WSM. I guess I will start there, but I know where to go if I don't get good results right away!

new caliber for me to reload-.300 WSM

I have loaded extensively for my .325 WSM, but I just acquired a .300 WSM. I will be using 165 grain Nosler Accubonds. I also have H4350, H4831, and H4895. Here is my real question: My .325 WSM likes hot loads with a regular CCI 200 rifle primer. It went from shooting ok to great just by using...

    New Browning this weekend

I am very excited about my latest addition to my Browning family of bolt actions. I found a Browning A bolt Mountain Ti in .300 WSM used and could not resist the price. Let's just say I paid way less than I thought I should have for it. It was worth the 8 hours in the car to get it! In case you...

    My first black bear

All of the 200 grain Accubonds went through and through. I was hoping to find one as well! I wonder what an 8mm 200 grain Accubond at 2800 fps would look like.

    My first black bear

A 140 lb dressed black bear is not small by any standards for NY state. Thank you for making an ignorant comment about something you are not knowledgeable about. It must be nice to have 140 lb cubs in British Columbia. I would love to see you come hunt the Adirondack Mountains. Less than 2% of...

    leupold scope

There are some that say that the Vari X III is the new VX II. I have 3 VXIII's and 1 Vari X III, and can't tell any difference. I hear the newest version will be called the VX3. Rob

    Price check

I found a Browning A bolt Mountain Ti in .300 WSM for sale. What would be a fair price for it used in 98% condition. I know the knew price is about $1500. Thanks. Rob

    TC Black Diamond

For what it is worth, I hunt with 3 or 4 guys who use Black Diamonds. I am a big TC fan, but the Black Diamond is a model that lacks what others have in the same price range. All of the muzzleloaders that I have owned were envied by them even though mine was less expensive. (I would buy them...

    .30-06 load for Caribou

I would have said to use the 165 Accubond as well. Look into Jack Hume Adventures if you are still looking for an outfitter. He is my cousin, and has a very good reputation. I have seen him guide many of the big name TV hunters in the past. Rob

Best dies for a 270 wsm?

You will most likely not be able to just neck size the .270 WSM. I have found that the Short Mags need the shoulder bumped with each firing. You may find different results. With this being said, Redding is a better die if you want to partially re size with the FL die, but I use Redding, RCBS...

    maximum barrel length gains

I am not really a fan of long barreled guns for hunting, as I hunt with a 22" barreled A bolt in .270 and a 23" barreled A bolt in .325 WSM. The 28" TC barrel is a Pro Hunter barrel, so it is fluted. Might look funny if I have it cut down...but I might do it anyway. Rob

    maximum barrel length gains

I am in the process of getting an Encore Pro Hunter in .30-06. This is a 28" barrel. I am wondering how much increase over a 24" barrel I will see. Rob

If you care about the 2nd amendment......

Just did a 5 yr. I can't afford a life membership now. I am telling everyone I know to join as well. PS: a lot of states have their own gun rights org that people should join as well.

    My first black bear

I know very little about these creatures, but I have been told that this was an average size bear for the Adirondacks. I think it is cool that range in size so much. Rob

    My first black bear

This past weekend was the regular season deer opener for my area, so it was the first weekend in the woods with smokeless powder pushing my bullets. I was hunting for deer, not bear, but hey no complaints here. I was sitting in my treestand way before sunrise, and after a long while, at about...

Has anyone tried Hodgdon' s new Hybrid 100V

Thanks Mike. I am carrying my Browning A bolt Stainless Stalker in .325 WSM shooting a 200 grain Accubond with 67.0 grains of H4350, Win brass, and CCI 200 standard rifle primers. It shoots really really well. Funny thing is, I haven't chrony'd it. I know loads with lots less powder were in the...

Tell me about the 25 WSSM

A friend that I hunt with had one in a Browning Micro Medallion. He loved it, but sold it to his BIL cause he needed a deer rifle. I know he loaded for it, and said it was real accurate, but I never shot it or saw it shot. He shot the 120 grain Partition. I was thinking of getting one myself...

Has anyone tried Hodgdon' s new Hybrid 100V

Care to share the data for the .325WSM? I just happen to have one. I am wondering if it would be a good powder for some other applications. Let me know if anyone else has tried it. Rob

Has anyone tried Hodgdon' s new Hybrid 100V

This looks like a high velocity yielding powder. I was just looking at data for the .257 Roberts (my newest Encore barrel) and notice that the next closest powder in velocity is almost 200 fps slower. It shows H4831 sending a 100 grain bullet at 3010 and the New Hybrid 100V at 3205fps with the...
