Good luck Slimm. I usually just pull the recipes off the net. We mix a bit and taste test the mix but after 20+ years I haven’t had a bad batch. Some might’ve a bit salty but otherwise totally good.
Honestly it’s so much easier and 10x safer starting at the low middle of the listed loads and shoot them on paper. If you have a speedometer you can see where you’re at pressure wise. Cause chances are my 05 won’t like the exact load yours does. Our eyes, lips and face are pretty valuable.

I’d give the Nosler data a good looking over. Chances are,’they tested it, it might do decent enough.
Great buck and go forth and get your elk. Great bullet. Seen it really work well from an 06. It ain’t going to do any worse in a 300. Good luck this fall!
I don’t know for sure but I’d guess 9 is better than 10, since it’s a fairly long bullet. You might be okay depending on your elevation but generally I’d prefer more twist than less for such a bullet.
I see it a lot I’m 223 data. They’ll test a lot of bullets in a 12 twist that I know for sure...
Jeeze Jim, it’d be an inch longer than 22”…. Duh :ROFLMAO:
All kidding aside, the 340 is less likely to be hurt by the short tube than say a 300. It wouldn’t bother me a bit. Still going to be a set up for slaying moose..
For me, if I’m looking at your target correct that’s 10 shots into about 1.5” which is really fine for such a big rifle. 10 shots really let’s you see what’s happening with your gun and 3200 with the 165 will fetch elk quite a long way. I’d bet you’re keeping 2000fps out to 700 yards.
So, if...
I’d chop it Bear. For your use with a suppressor you’ll likely still be getting speeds that a 25-26” 338 Win can obtain. I’d bet you’ll still be north of 2800 with 250’s and around 2700 or better with that big 265 ABLR. My only reservation would be shooting it without a suppressor as it would be...
I have a 6.5 CM, 6.5 Swede, 6.5 PRC, and 2 264 Wins. My brother shoots a 6.5x300 Wby. The 6.5 RPM sits in a great spot. Little less than a 264 and a little more than a PRC. With the 127 LRX I’d think 3250 should be normal and put you in a great spot for an excellent game getter.
Darned near...
Very cool Jim. I figured you might like that. I love churning out a few hundred of them suckers. I have a Colt Anaconda 4.25 and man it’s a pile of fun to shoot with that load.
