What can I not hunt today with the
6.5 x 55
300 H & H
375 H & H
The swede has been pushed aside by the Creedmore and it seems like years since I have seen anyone but myself using a 300 and 375 H & H.
My first rifle/shotgun was a Stevens combo. Not many use the combinations anymore but my...
well hell Mike, I didn't mean to kill your thread. My apologizes
Jamila, Camels . We saw them but did not hunt them. We were told they are very destructive and dangerous to anything around them. The natives kill them for food for their villages. When I think of hunting, Camels are not...
How kind of you gentlemen, thank you
Speaking only for myself, I have been juggling invitations from friends and family as well as health/age issues. A friend and I took fine art classes in Florence and then rented a Ferrari and two old ladies drove from Florence to Venice, it was fun. My...
mike, you did not say North America, and if you meant all animals hunted, I would have to say the cape buffalo and/or elephant for me.
In North America and since you used the word "tenacity" the coastal Browns have to be included but moose just dont know their dead, it is almost funny...
Excellent Mike, congratulations.
Will they give you another tag, since this was a hunt for the safety of the community ?
From memory, Cheyenne, can dispose of problem bears without it affecting her quota--I may have this wrong
Frank
Good points (-:
a tad off subject but wanted to ask you if you have seen the K 20 Victoria ? If I was still able to hunt birds, one of those in a 20 gauge would be tempting. Does your friend also like to hunt birds ? (-:
please let us know what she chooses--excited for her
Frank, those are nice! ( Tikka )
Also, a friend just purchased a Blaser. They make one specifically to fit a woman and regardless of what caliber you chose the first time around--you can keep getting different calibers/barrels (-;
Also my granddaughter got a Weatherby Camilla and loves it...
Frank
LOP will be no problem for her ( 5'10" ) but the cheek weld is still important, women, on average have longer necks. A rifle that fits makes it more enjoyable to use.
308 is a good caliber-----but----an animal or two has been knocked down with the 6.5 x55 and 7 x 57 and they would be...
teknys--you are correct
just as a very small example
OMG the 300 and 375 H & H ---are unbelievable
OMG the weatherbys rifle --especially the 257, 270, 300, and 340---are unbelievable
OMG the wsm's ----are unbelievable
then we get those that were unbelievable for awhile, went away and...
more moose has been shot with the 6.5 x 55 in
Sweden than any other caliber. I have used the 6.5 x 55 on three continents successfully.
I am one of those who tend to "hype" it.--love the Swede!!! (-:
Guy did you read about the fellow who harvested a shiras moose in your state and it is a world record ? Do you know him ? maybe Dr Mike or someone can find the story and attach it
Not physically able to hunt any more but will accompany my daughter and granddaughter to Namibia for a plains game hunt. The goal is to complete the spiral horn slam
Frank, the 300WSM, which is comparable to the 300 H & H, which is what I used, is a tad more potent than the 308, especially in the heavier bullets, which I had a tendency to prefer for the large "plains game"
But it sounds like this is more like they are helping to thin out the herds, so if...

in the 1940's ---way before most, if not all here were around, I was enjoying the Stevens 22/410 Combination. Possibly the next one that I had almost as much fun with was the Win 94 30/30, but if your talking about the rifle that has "hunted" the most, it would be the 300 H & H. The first...
Next time Don. He got a nice one, congratulations to him and good luck to you Dr Mike on the Lynx hunt. We hunted cats years ago ---- it is a much younger persons game, as they can be very physically demanding and exhausting hunts.
