Thanks for the advice guys- I have come to similar conclusions myself. I will keep an eye out for a "replacement bolt", but until then the rifle will set in the safe. I hate it. But I will also keep an eye out for a short action Savage I can screw a new barrel on in 250. In the mean time I...
So - talked with my Smith this afternoon- he hasnt been able to find a bolt for my FN Mauser commercial bolt or action (no surprise) I havent either. He does have an Interarms "Mark X" 30-06 rifle for sale. In many ways this might be the way to go. I would get a theoretically good action and...
Mom is 84- her sister passed away three weeks ago, Mom tested positive two weeks ago. She remains very ill, but is not hospitalized. My aunts funeral has been posponed twice due to winter weather and family needing to travel from Wyo. Co. and SD to say nothing of me back to SD. And then...
5 pages! What did I miss....? 270- Nothin so special.... kinda like green box Core Lokts...when used correctly, stuff falls down with boring regularity. If you got one just shoot it till you can make it do what you need. Come to think of it, that applies to a lot of things. "beware the man...
243. Unless I break down and have it re-barreled to 250 Sav. That was always the intent. But it shoots so well in 243. Never shoot the Donor! But I'd rather have both. Have been looking for another "donor" but so far I cant find anything that inspires me, that I can afford. The Axis is just...
The only thing I can think of is "float like a butterfly, sting like a bee....". You are correct, it better shoot, cause subtle it ain't. That's ok. You know beter than most, its gotta fit! That should work. BTW thanks for supporting the home town team (Boyds)! Im thinking about building...
I believe it was the October issue of RIFLE Magazine that contained a side bar article that opined that the 7mm-08 came into being at its higher pressures because the 7x57 was loaded to lower pressures in deference to the older rifles/ actions it might be chambered in. CL
Hey all- I find myself looking to replace the Bolt body in my FN Belgian made Mauser. Ive looked at all the usual Google spots. Im not interested in a Military or reforged "bent" bolt. That limits me to old Browning,Weatherby, Herters or other imported actions. Any body have one or any leads...
Holding out for an FN comercial Mauser bolt. They are more difficult to find and spendy. Not reallt interested in a reforged Mauser. As noted I have a things to tide me over....and several folks looking for a bolt. Just not sure its worth that much, except sentimentally. CL
Ok - if you've been keeping up,(but why would you...) you know that I've been battling with the old 250 savage. About a year ago, I made a mistake and over charged a some loads and locked up the bolt. (See above..) I assumed that once we got the bolt open I was good. However, I'm guessing...
