I have watched my USPS shipments pass my house and go 200 miles in the wrong direction and then turn around and bounce back and forth between DC's for two days before landing at the post office for delivery.
The farmers in my area are finding lots of dead deer in the soy bean fields while harvesting the beans. No one seems to know what's killing the deer.
Today one farmer found what looked to be a healthy 14 point White tail dead in one of his fields.
We have seen some CDW and Blue tonge but these...
I got tired of throwing away meat that was blood shot when using light (150gr) bullets on deer so when the 165gr bullets came out I tried them and never looked back. I felt the 180gr was a bit over kill for our eastern white tails and the 165gr seemed perfect. I have never had one go farther...
I may be late for the party but I'm old school and weigh each of the charges on a RCBS/OHUAS 10-10-10 Bearm scale. Used it so much I broke the powder pan handle off and have placed it on the pan hanger to still get accurate weights.
I need to find a new powder pan one day since it's a pain...
I use Redding dies for 35 Whelen and for the 35AI. I have used 270 brass and 280 brass to make both and my dies have a tappered neck expander in the 35whelen/AI and annealing the necks first is always best before resizing. The 270/280 brass is longer than 30-06, I have lost a few but they were...
Yeah that is eye catching and I wouldn't want it hanging on a strut either.
Maybe try a B&C composit stock with a full bedding block and you will see those 1/4" groups along with the timmney trigger upgrade.
Hey E. get a Timmney trigger for it and never look back. I had a Vanguard/Howa that the trigger felt like it was full of sand, the Timmney made it fell like glass breaking when you touched it off.
Sold the Vanguard but still have the trigger in box in my reloading room.
Used them all until I tried Imperial case wax and haven't had a stuck case since.
I use a custom powder funnel/case mouth expander for .45 acp in my Dillon 550B, when I expand cases that have been cleaned with steel pins and lemon shine the cases will stick in the expander, I smear a little...
Back in the day when there was still room to hunt deer locally I would hunt a friends farm . He could never figure out how I managed to kill a deer on opening day in areas he swore there were no deer. I would get to the farm early while he was milking and take my coat and rub it all over one of...
I've had some bad brass and primers over the years. In had gas burns on the bolt face of one of my rifles and they paid for repairs and refunded the cost of the primers.
I still use their primers and brass but have also found other brands that worked as well so when what I have on hand is used...
If you can find one a Leupold VariX III 1X5 is what I used on my main deer rifle since it was brand new, a Ruger tang safety M77 in 30-06. That scope has never had to be adjusted since I first sighted it in and was used in heavy cover hunting white tail deer. Set on 1x it will allow you to shoot...
Having owned both 24" and 26" I have found that the only difference is if your hunting from a blind with very close corners and then I would prefer a 22" barrel.
With the newer powders with higher energy than the old stand byes you can hardly tell the difference in velocity, I know the animals...
Ours are so stressed from the hot summer and drought that they are just turning brown and falling off. A few maples are showing some color but they have lost all the leaves in the top of the trees.
Congrats,
I've been chasing that for a long time but only for Bullseye Hand gun. My eye's and health have held me back after I sprung for the custom hand guns I needed to get the job done. Now I'm just happy I can be competitive and just enjoy meeting and talking with the guys and galls.
Lot of advise but you had your mind made up before you posted, nothing wrong with that. Send it down the road and get the Tika you want in the caliber you want.;)
We use to have some great Ruff grouse hunting till the younger generations started selling of the home steads and now all we have is overcrowding from developments and resorts where the gen x can run their side by sides racing threw the mountains and old farm steads.
