Best all around load .257 Roberts

I did get a 1-9” twist, so its a bit faster but this will be a “set and forget” scoped rifle. Not planning to shoot the distances where high bc bullets really matter.

Best all around load .257 Roberts

Getting my .25-06 rebarreled. Unless one of you fellas wants to buy me a Remington 700 Classic or Winchester Model 70 for Christmas! 😂

Best all around load .257 Roberts

Was wondering how running a 100 grain Speer Hot-Core/ 100 grain Partition combo would work? Use the Speer for most stuff, switch to the Partition when I need more penetration?

    Sportsman’s Warehouse

I had Sportsman’s Warehouse staff mount one scope for me years ago. I bought one there during a sale and they offered to do it as a complimentary courtesy. Since I had the gun in the vehicle, I thought why not. The fellow undertaking the mounting seemed to know his stuff where guns etc. were...

Best all around load .257 Roberts

I have shot the .25-06 a ton. Literally to the point of wearing out a barrel. But I have never yet tripped the trigger on a .257 Bob. My Remington 700 is going to be rebarreled as soon as I can get it to the smith. So, cognoscenti, bless me with thy knowledge. What pray tell is the best all...

We cooked it up tonight. Andy loved it! Now he wants to shoot more!

    Proud Father

I think I was 8 years old when I killed my first critter, a robin that I shot out of a tree with my BB gun. Thankfully my folks didn’t make me eat it. Deer season this year was supposed to showcase my wife getting her first buck. For many different reasons, that did not come to pass. Just...

OK Nosler what is this about?????

I noticed they aren’t offering them in any “magnum” cartridges and only a few select standard cartridges. Wish they would’ve done something each in .224, .244 and .257 calibers. Maybe they eventually will. $35 a box is competitive with other similar factory ammo right now.

    257 Roberts brass

Where is everyone getting their brass these days? I see several outlets have loaded rounds but the only brass I see available is Nosler and at over $2.50 each I think I would rather just shoot up some factory stuff. 100 pieces Hornady or R-P brass would do. Too bad Starline doesn’t make any!!

    Poor Winchester brass quality control.

The blue and white bags on the late 90’s and early 00’s seemed to be good stuff. It wasn’t until around 2010 that I began to see an increase in culls in Winchester brass. I won’t buy another bag of Winchester after buying 100 rds of the Black/Red bag brass a few years ago. Nosler and...

    Putting down livestock

I’ve got nothing but respect for mobile slaughter businesses. That’s hard work and not everyone can do it. We use one locally for our beef steers each year. They are good folks. The owner is a gun guy and he has used just about every gun he owns at one time or another. He also does a necropsy...

    Accutrigger replacement

Timney triggers are the easy button with replacement triggers. Have used dozens, never had an issue. Hear good things about Rifle Basix but have yet to try one.

    Putting down livestock

A caveat that I should’ve added to my original post was that .22 LR and .22 WMR while certainly capable for such use in proper circumstances, should be eschewed generally for it. I’ve seen both cattle and hogs take shots to the head from both cartridges (in rifles and handguns) without any...

    Putting down livestock

This is a PSA of sorts, but please feel free to comment. So I have used all of my primary hunting rifles and handguns to put down aged/injured animals or livestock over the years. Livestock includes pigs, bulls, beef steers, cows, calves, and horses. I have also had to put down injured deer...

    Whelen Scope

I’m very new to the .35 Whelen, in fact outside of range time, I have no experience with it. I mounted a Leupold M8-4x on my JP Sauer Model 98 Mauser .35 Whelen and so far I like it very much.

    .375" 260 gr Nosler Accubond

I’ve not had any trouble with the Accubond in any caliber that I have used or seen them used in.

    BLR Trigger

I don’t know anyone that specializes in such work but that .358 BLR sure is a cool rifle. Can’t wait to see you bring home some game with it!
