Badgers- How/ where would you hunt one?

Ran one down with a Jeep when I was a kid and shot it with a .22 pistola.

    Tight chamber

Are you stripping the bolt to check the headspace? Speaking for myself only, it’s hard to get a good feel for it otherwise. Unlikely but the Nosler ammo could be long. I’d shoot it before I went at it with a reamer.

Bullet choice for a .308 Win. back-up elk rifle.

I’d think that 180BT would be a perfect choice if it shoots well for him.

The eldx doesn’t care much about a big jump in my experience.

Alaskan Brown Bear Almost gets the Hunters

My neighbors guide brown bear. Family has been in the biz for 50 years. They have a .375 minimum, soft nose bullet.

Made in USA front adjustable shooting rest

Sure. I shot benchrest years ago when I lived in the more uncivilized part of the USA haha. This rest came recommended by the fella that built my rifle and showed me the ropes. It was expensive even then as I recall. It followed me to Alaska. I don’t use it. I should sell it, probably...

    "Don't Hunt Bear!"

I don’t advocate for hunting bare either. It’s too cold.

    The all arounder/utility/truck rifle

I recently took a small dog with a 85gr Sierra out of my 6x45 moving at a modest 2650. Behind the shoulder, caliber size entrance maybe a 3/4” exit. No problem with sewing that up.

Easiest Sight-in and Load Development Ever

Leave it. Those SD and ES numbers are virtually meaningless for hunting gun practical accuracy. Nice work!

I’ve got several boxes of various cup and core bullets $8-$12 per 100.

Both my H&H like the 220gr Sierra RN. Best looking cartridge/bullet combination ever. At home from Alaska to Africa😄

    Barrel break in.

I don’t think it makes much sense with the cleaning products available today. If it loses accuracy due to fouling, stuff like Bore Tech or Wipe Out/Patch Out really does a good job and with not a lot of effort. I don’t buy into the 8000 rounds between cleanings, however I don’t worry about...

338/06 282gr Shock Hammer load anyone?

In my experience with Hammers, the faster the better. Both in accuracy and expansion. They don’t work like lead core bullets. That 282gr may be a bit too much bullet in 338-06. I use the 186gr Shock Hammer in my 338 Federal. 2750 is reasonable in it and extremely accurate. Close to...
