That bison freezer filler would be on my list, as well as the continued deer hunt with the son. In fact I’d take him on the bison trip and watch him pull the trigger.
Those long, beyond SAAMI factory throats are super frustrating. They do it for safety which is understandable from a product liability standpoint, and I guess a lot of bullets really don’t care about a huge jump. Personally it doesn’t suit my nature though. Hope your new one is a shooter.
No clue other than it wasn’t your day. I once took a gent fishing who had been shot off an ATV with a high powered rifle at some distance. The bullet entered his pelvis and by the Grace did not expand. No explanation other than God had other plans for him.
Glad you’re here to tell the tale.
It will never shoot right. You need to send it to me. Hahaha.
Mine both like a stiff charge of Re22 and a 220gr Sierra RN. For a boutique bullet, the Barnes 175 LRX has been a winner.
I have a Henry .22 lever. It’s smoov!!!!😀.
I’m a fan of the .357 in a lever. I have a Rossi R92 and I’ve done the Stevez Gunz treatment to it. You can add at least 300fps to any hot pistol load. Makes for a formidable short range deer rifle.
I have had good luck with 2 6.5 barrels from X-Caliber. Those guys are on the top of their game when it comes to button rifled barrels. They frequently have 20-30% off sales. I would start at 26” and if it was too unruly it could always be cut off.
A .223 is probably more sensible but that’s never been my strong suit when it comes to cartridge selection. Haha. I have a heavy 6x45 right now, put it together about a month ago with a X-Caliber CF barrel. I regrettably haven’t had the time to fool with it. The new build is going light, at...
I keep telling myself this is it, last one. We’ll see.
I’ve had the hankering for a 6mm-223 for years. Plentiful brass, and I have a lot of bullets. So I’ve started collecting. So far the Bighorn Origin lefty action is still in process, over a month late. The good news is the McMillan...
