I’d venture a guess that the owner has a straw bidder or two trying to work up a frenzy. It can be a successful auction technique, if your ethical standards are at a level that allow it.
Recently saw a Facebook meme that went along the lines of “see what happens when you get a mail order President”.
I have had some luck ordering from
powder valley. The Sportsman’s reloading isle nearest to me is still empty.
There was an old guy in Juneau AK that had a gun shop for at least 35 years. His prices were high, the place was filthy, he had significant issues with help and also various BATF problems. It would be easy to say he was his own worst enemy. He is a nice old guy but a little creepy. He always...
My son is a resident there. While I have no interest in hunting for or accumulating points for moose or sheep in Wyoming, it’s sorta troubling to read they are considering it for deer and elk as well. Be that as it may, it’s their state. The state I live in certainly has no moral high ground...
You’re right. Suddenly the COVID narrative is dead. For now.
I was threatened with losing a little job I have with a telecom company if I didn’t produce my vax card or sign a religious exemption. I think it was about 30 days before the SCOTUS squashed Brandon’s mandate. I told them to...
I really like those Pro Hunter round nose bullets you have listed. They shoot well in any cartridge I own. Not fancy enough for todays sniper hunter crowd so I imagine we won’t be seeing a new run anytime soon.
I have an Outlander. It was inlet for a Remington 700 short action. I put a Bighorn Origin in it. Had to lengthen the port cut just a tad and I also opened the barrel channel for a larger contour. I have not bedded it, it sets on the factory pillars perfectly. I got a M5 bottom metal inlet...
Odd thing is that there was a listing right above this one, same bullets, single box. It was up to $30. I got shipping notice on my auction. Hope I didn’t buy empty boxes, LOL.
I’m very nostalgic. Today I was perusing Gunbroker while my wife is watching NASCAR. Yes, I already took a nap. Anyway, I found some very old stock 85gr Sierra spitzer bullets, not boat tail. These things should really work out of my 6X45 that I haven’t gotten yet. Best part….$12 per box...
I live and hunt amongst them. If I were to use a .30 cal magnum I would opt for a 220gr partition, 220 Sierra Pro Hunter, or 240 Woodleigh weldcore. Your guide will have your back with probably a .375 or greater. My .338WM with a 250gr Corelokt accounted for one at less than 100 yards...
To follow up, we capped off our hunting (read: harvest) season right after Christmas with my older son being home from Wyoming. I gave the younger one the AR with the red dot he is used to. Went 3 for 3. In the mean time I am putting together a chassis-based bolt gun that uses aics magazines...
I do my own because I cannot abide waiting a year plus for a gunsmith thread and chamber job that takes half a day after a 6-8 week wait for the barrel. Prefits are fine, barrel nuts work great.
A factory Remington barrel can be a real bugger to get off.
