Took that load out and sighted in at 200 yards. Ballistic calculator said to give it 10 clicks on the CDS dial at 300 yards. The results speak For themselves…
Nice job! When I hear “multi-season tag” I assume you also live in Wa state? Hope you do well on elk. I may have to sit out the early season this year due to work:(
Last year I picked up a compact Tikka .308. Norma was having a sale on its .308 ammo and ended up being basically the same price for loaded ammo vs new brass, so I bought 200 rounds. Figured if the rifle shot well enough with I was good. If not I would have 200 rounds to plink with and...
Spent part of the afternoon loading some more up. Won’t have a chance to take it out and zero the new load till next weekend but I’m pleased with what it’ll do. The only hunting we have on the schedule this year for her is a Wyoming deer hunt in November so we have some time to play around...
I’ve loaded the 120 BT in my daughters Remington model 7 in 7mm-08 for years at a reduced load. It’s taken a few whitetail, a mule deer and some Antelope with no issues. This year I put a new Leupold with the CDS and decided we should probably try and get a little more speed out of that...
I’ll have to go back to my load books but I worked up a load with IMR 4350 that gives me 2750 fps with a 160 grainAccubond. Figured that was close enough to .280 Rem speeds not to go any further. This is out of a Number 1. No signs of pressure and it shoots as good as I’m capable of...
People have short memories regarding our freedoms and how we maintain them. We need men and women like Dan, here’s to hoping we don’t need to use them….Semper Fi
They pretty much shoot the same speed and accuracy as the 250 Partition out of my Whelen. I’ve only used them on Black Bear, as I used the Partition on my African hunt. But I wouldn't hesitate to use them on much of anything.
Vince, good for you on making the big move. I’ve lived south of Seattle for over 30 years now. The population and politics are going to be what drives me out of here in the next year and a half when I retire. But it does have some beautiful mountain scenery and the summers are pretty...
I had a tip come out of a 180 AB I had loaded in my .300 WSM a few years ago. I was curious to see how accuracy was affected so I shot it at 200 yards. It hit within 2 inches if my aiming point, which I didn’t think was bad. Not sure what I was expecting but I found that interesting.
I think somebody nailed it, Jack O’Connor wrote extensively about it and the majority of outdoorsman took their cues from the writers of the magazines. Not unlike the internet today. I have never owned a .270 and at this point in my life, unless I won one, I probably never will. But if...
Guy, you should definitely make this the only rifle you hunt with this year. Pretty neat to have a rifle in your family for that many years. I have some of my Grandad’s guns but he never held on to anything from that time in his life other than a few knives. He would often talk about the...
It’s been awhile since I’ve ordered anything from SPS but I’ve never had any complaints. Actually the opposite. They really went out of their way once for me. I was placing an order because they finally had some .35 cal 250 Partitions in stock. Problem was I was headed out of town for a...
