    220 grain BT for blackout

Nosler did it right. Way to go guys! BC is very important in sub sonic loads. Many of us shoot out to 300 yards sub sonic. I have been using a 200 grain Speer flat base because it stabilizes easily in a 1-10 bolt gun I have. This 220 grain will soon become the go to bullet for 300...

338 win mag Speer 275 gr semi spitzer

Wow, this is a trip down memory lane! I knew Elmer fairly well. I used to send him bison meat on dry ice via UPS to Salmon, Idaho where he lived. I was in NW Oregon so it did not take long to get there. He gave me alot of advice on the 338 when I was building one. In 1978-82 when I used...

70 grain RDF Load data - Gas gun

Well, it looks like Accurate 2520 and 2460 will be the go to guys. I am a little bit surprised that Win 748 and CFE223 did not make the list but I guess that's why you use Quickload. You both provide a really valuable service to forum members. Thanks very much!

70 grain RDF Load data - Gas gun

Wow, that was fast. Thanks guys! 556 NATO pressure is measured at neck as I recall and is about 62,000 psi equivilent. So the "gas gun" pressure I asked about is actually higher than the bolt gun which is a SAAMI spec of 55,000 psi measured mid case for the 223 Remington. This is the reason...

70 grain RDF Load data - Gas gun

Thanks very much. I see the 70 grain RDF is closer in length to the 77 than the 69 is why I asked. 0.90 for 69 grain CC and .980 for 77 CC. RDF is .96 as I recall. Think I will give W748 a try since I am shooting at long range, velocity is your friend.

70 grain RDF Load data - Gas gun

Has Nosler released any reloading data for the RDF line? I would like to try the 70 grain .224 in an accurate 20 inch 1:8 AR Ive been shooting at Horse Ridge. The 77 grain Sierra TMK is only looking like a real world (1000 yards) G7 BC of 0.192 for me. Barley better than the standard SMK OTM...

    What I want for 2017...........

I would like Nosler to include more of their bullets in the AR15 NATO pressure level portion of the reloading manual. The MSR is after all the most popular rifle in USA. The 64 grain bonded solid base in particular deserves to have a NATO loading. But really, all or most of the product line...

    Hornady 178 grain ELD-X

Part Two. Hornady 178 grain ELD-X bullet. The ELD-X does appear to be as streamlined as Hornady claims. Using a value of .268 G7 ballistic coefficient combined with the actual temperature, chronographed velocity, and altitude above sea level, the MOA elevation required at each range was...

    EI-NIESEN 110 powder

Does anyone know who makes this powder? It is being used in the latest batch of CBC Magtech 5.56mm NATO ammunition which is loaded with the 77grain Sierra Match King OTM bullet. 'I have used 2,000 rounds or so of previous batches from CBC, both with US canister grade powders. WC732 and PR 844...

    .30-06 vs a couple of 7mm mags...

BF375, Agree with what you said. "But IME it is easier to get 3050 with a 160 in the 7 RM than (2975) with the 165 in the 30/06." And thanks very much for the BBC report. I think only the North Fork could have done as well and it would not have expanded as much. Wiping out that much of the...

The 6.5 Creedmoor goes long........very well!

Muleman, What is your barrel length? What do you expect to get for round count out of the barrel? 2,500 or less??? Only thing that is keeping me from going 6.5 or 6 XC with a 115 or 6 BR w a 107. I know one guy who went 4,000 rounds with a 6 BR but the other two are likely half what a plain...

Android App; Shooter or Applied Ballistics?

Is anyone using Bryan Litz's new Shooter app for Android phones? Or his slightly more expensive Applied Ballistics app? ($9.95 and $29.95) I have a relatively small Android screen, 2 x 3 1/2 maybe, and wondered how user frienldy it is? I have range cards for likely temperature and velocity...

    .30-06 vs a couple of 7mm mags...

I am old enough to have loaded the 30-06 with a 165 grain partition with H-205 and got 2975 fps from a 22 inch barrel way back in late 70's or early 1980's. H-205 and Norma 205 were both discontinued about the same time due to pressure unpredictablity as I recall. I loaded that ammo for a...

    QuickLoad questions thread...

Reloading the 178 factory loaded bullet with 42.5 Varget gave me 2620 fps at 2.86 OCL. So my rifle with 20 inch barrel is running about 50 fps faster than QL predicts for a 24 inch. Looks like I will be safe at either OCL at about 2650 fps w Varget which is close to what I had hoped for. If...

    22-250 Ackley Improved Advice

I have fire formed alot of 300 h and h into 300 weatherby and 375 h and h into improved cases using Unique, a pistol primer and a case full of Argo corn starch held in place with a bullet of toilet paper. Weird but it worked. HArd to stuff the corn starch down a 30 caliber hole, so might be a...

    QuickLoad questions thread...

Thanks DWH, I appreciate the help. I have some ELD-X backordered. Looks like not much difference in velocity or pressure with the longer seating depth. Thanks! I did get good data points at 500, 600 and 800 yards at 2660 fps with the precision hunter ammo and will try again at 1,000 with a...

    Hornady 178 grain ELD-X

G7 BC is very close to what is advertised. I shot twenty of the precision hunter ammo yesterday at horse ridge and got reliable data points for come ups at 500, 600 and 800 yards. Ran out of ammo before I could get on at 1000 but this is what I found. Average for 15 shots 2669 fps at 75-80...

    Hornady 178 grain ELD-X

FOTIS. See comments below I cut and pasted from Quick Load thread. I pulled a Hornady ELD-X 178 grain bullet from a box of 308 Winchester Pro Hunter ammo. The bullet is a whopping 1.405 inches long. Powder charge was 42.5 grains of a small extruded kernel that looks similar to Varget but...
